The Most Lesbian Moments of The MTV Movie Awards

The MTV Movie Awards (airing live this Sunday, April 14 at 9/8c on MTV) always provide some interesting antics for us to tune in for, and sometimes those can be lesbianish. With this year’s Pitch Perfect reunion happening, we’ll pulling for Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow to reenact their shower scene and really commit this time. Or maybe Ester Dean‘s lesbian character will introduce a girlfriend. You never know on this awards show! Here are some of our favorite lesbian moments past.

In 1993, Sharon Stone won Best Female Performance for her role as the bisexual vagina in Basic Instinct.

Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly were up for Best Kiss in Bound in 1997, but didn’t take home the trophy. The next year Chasing Amy‘s Joey Lauren Adams and Carmen Llywelyn also lost, as did Matt Dillon, Denise Richards and Neve Campbell for Wild Things in 1999. It wasn’t until 2000 a lesbian kiss won the title, and it went to Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair took home the Best Kiss prize for Cruel Intentions. The duo beat Hilary Swank and Chloë Sevigny for their performances in Boys Don’t Cry.

Two years later, Mia Kirshner and Beverly Polcyn were nominated for their Cruel Intentions parody scene in Not Another Teen Movie, but lost to a gay kiss in American Pie 2.

t.A.T.u. still had the world believing they were gay when they performed with a ton of undie-clad young women at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards. Even P. Diddy thought that shit was weird.

Carmen Electra won Best Kiss in 2004 for a Starsky & Hutch three-way with Owen Wilson and Amy Smart and decided to plant one on Paris Hilton during her acceptance speech. Carmen won over Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci in Monster. The host that year: Lindsay Lohan, who won Best Actress in 2005 for Mean Girls.

The following year, Jennifer Garner and Natassia Malthe were up for their almost-kiss in Elektra, but were beat by The Notebook.

In 2007, Sarah Silverman and Jessica Biel filmed a very close bit for the awards show.

Sandra Bullock went on stage to receive the MTV Generation Award in 2010, and promptly laid a kiss on presenter Scarlett Johansson. Earlier that year, Sandy had kissed Meryl Streep at another awards show, making us want to give her all the awards.

That same year, Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning were up for Best Kiss for The Runaways, but lost to Kristen and her Twilight boyfriend Robert Pattinson. They’ve now won four years in a row, beating Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman in 2011. Speaking of KStew, last year she received an award from none other than Jodie Foster.

And then there was Jersey Shore‘s JWoww and Snooki swapped kisses on the red carpet for the camera. We could live without that this year.

Will anything lesbianish happen this weekend on the MTV Movie Awards? We can only hope. Be sure to tune in and join our own Dana Piccoli (@danapiccoli) on Twitter, where she’ll be live tweeting the show using the hashtag #LadyToner starting at 8:30 EST, this Sunday night.
