Morning Brew – Wed. Feb. 27: No Quinntana in the foreseeable future, Kathy Bates joins “American Horror Story”

Good morning!

Kathy Bates is joining Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange in the next season of American Horror Story. Say what you want about Ryan Murphy and Glee, but on AHS he’s making all my dreams come true.

This Harvey Nichols ad received several complaints about its explicit lesbian nature after it was on display in a Liverpool department store. But it was deemed non-offensive after The Advertising Standards Authority decided, “Because we considered that it was sufficiently clear that the posters showed one woman about to kiss her mirror image, and because we also considered that they were unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence even if interpreted differently, we concluded that the ads were not offensive, irresponsible or unsuitable for untargeted display because they appeared to portray a lesbian kiss.”

Because if it were a lesbian almost-kiss, that would be just terrible. So if you’re a woman, you can only want to kiss another woman that is yourself. Makes total sense.

“You’re so pretty for a lesbian!” and nine other things straight people say that annoy this lesbian writer.

Bianca Montgomery will have a teenage daughter named Miranda when All My Children returns and she’ll be played by Denyse Tontz. I bet that makes Eden Riegel feel old considering she has a newborn at home.

Out drummer Allison Miller wrote a piece for The Huffington Post about being a queer female musician in an industry still heavily dominated by men. If you tell her she plays like a girl, she’ll say “thank you.”

Don’t worry, Nurse Jackie fans: Eve Best is definitely back for the new season.

Is there more Quintanna coming? TVLine said not as of right now, but notes there’s still a lot of Season 4 left to go.

A lesbian student in Florida was suspended for participating in an anti-bullying event and then showed up to school for her in-school suspension wearing a Day of Silence T-shirt that read “DOS April 20, 2012: Shhhhh.” She was then sent home, and now Lambda Legal is representing Amber Hatcher in a case against DeSoto County High. I can think of way more offensive phrases she could have put on that shirt. Team Amber!

Jackie Warner answered questions for Oxygen magazine in a Facebook chat. Here are 13 things the mag learned from the conversation.

Bad Girls Club: Atlanta has several queer women this season, including out lesbian Stephanie. She answers some questions for Bossip in this video interview.

This trailer is definitely NSFW and does not have subtitles, but I suggest watching it nonetheless. Zwei Mutter (Two Mothers) is about a lesbian couple who want to have a child but are denied by sperm banks and fertility clinics and begin to seek other methods. They decide to buy sperm from someone and do it themselves, which proves to be a strange process.

Over on our Tumblr we’ve posted the new Mount Moriah music video, a song JD Samson guested on with French Horn Rebellion and the most lesbiansh photos from the Oscars. Check it out and follow us.

Paper magazine posted some gorgeous portraits of actors they love, and we happen to agree with some of them, including Portia de Rossi and Archie Panjabi.
