Morning Brew – Tues. Dec. 11: Celesbians come out for Cyndi Lauper’s Home for the Holidays, a new video from Russia’s lesbian pop star

Good morning! Thanks to Heather Hogan for taking over the Brew yesterday while I was out.

MMA fighter Cassie Robb says she is an out lesbian, just like fellow fighter Liz Carmouche, and she’ll be rooting for Liz in her upcoming match.

That is a big deal to me because I myself am a lesbian and I know quite a few other MMA fighters who are as well. I don’t think people look any differently at lesbian fighters. We are there to fight.. Period! It’s not about your personal beliefs or what anyone thinks of them. You are in there to prove that you are the best fighter, regardless of sexual orientation. We are in there to prove to not only everyone else but to ourselves the heart, determination, and hard work it takes to get in there and do what we do.

Does this mean I need to start watching MMA?

Congratulations are in order to Lepa Mladjenovic, who has been awarded this year’s Anne Klein Women’s Award, “an award that embodies the work and legacy of Klein, who was a dedicated lawyer and openly lesbian politician in Germany.” Lepa is an out activist who has been crucial to feminist and LGBT work in Serbia since the 1980s.

Shonda Rimes told Oprah she’s not letting fans dictate what happens on Grey’s Anatomy anymore. I don’t know which one of you decided Arizona needed to lose a leg…

The Boston Globe has a great piece on caring for LGBT seniors. Yes, Virginia, we all get older.

The more I read about having two moms, the more it sounds pretty rad. It’s almost like everyone should be a lesbian to make the world a better place.

Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen voiced very Portlandia-esque characters on The Simpsons last night.

If you love women in prison films, then you might be into supporting the Kickstarter campaign for Kittens in a Cage from out writer/actor Jillian Armenante.

Cyndi Lauper put on her 2nd Annual Cyndi Lauper And Friends: Home For The Holidays benefit in New York last weekend and here are some photos of attendees and performers you know and love.

It looks like Tucky Williams and Abisha Uhl will be getting into a knock-down, drag-out fight on an upcoming Girl/Girl Scene.

Out Russian pop star Anastasia Luna sent us her new video for “Tonight.” It’s kind of NSFW unless your boss doesn’t mind lesbians rolling around in lingerie.
