Did it suddenly feel like someone was standing on your neck? Then you’re right. Daria, Jane and the Lawndale High gang will be coming back to MTV, albeit briefly, this summer.
Daria reruns will air as part of MTV’s “Retro Mania” morning programming from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. running for six weeks through August. The network will also bring back the first two seasons of Laguna Beach and the entire run of The Hills as part of the schedule.
But enough about rich kids in Southern California. I’m all about sarcastic smartypants Daria Morgendorffer and her artistic, equally sarcastic best friend Jane Lane. MTV will begin airing select episodes of Daria between July 30 and August 3. That’s not a long run, but enough for those of us who love the show to set out DVRs and plan a marathon. So what if I already own the complete series DVD set? This is still fun news.
For those of you who care about those rich kids, Laguna Beach will run June 25-29 and The Hills will be on July 2-27. Stars, using that term loosely (What? I’m channeling my inner Daria), from those shows will provide commentary during their run including Audrina Patridge, Lo Bosworth, Stephen Colletti and Stephanie Pratt.
So thoughts? I’m pretty sure Daria would have many at being coupled with Laguna Beach and The Hills. But for now, my self esteem is greatly improved. My low esteem for everyone else, however, remains entirely intact.
p.s. If the show had continued, I totally believe Daria and Jane would have hooked up in college. At least once.
