Morning Brew – Fri. June 15: A lesbian designer on “Project Runway,” Joy Behar makes out with Jane Fonda

I am so ready for this weekend, guys. It’s Pride here in Portland and I can’t wait to go out dancing. I even bought this Pride shirt from Brooklyn Industries that benefits the Ali Forney Center in New York. So in case you are coming to PDX for the festivities, you should come out to these two parties.

If you need any more info, feel free to send me a PM or a Tweet.

For the first time ever, the Pentagon and the U.S. military are celebrating Pride. I love a girl in uniform!

The women of The View were discussing the theory that everyone has, at one time or another, thought about making out with one of their friends. And then there was a clip of Joy Behar making out with Jane Fonda. I kid you not!

The most recent issue of ESPN the magazine is all about women in sports and one of the stories is about a tragic love story between two girls who met while playing basketball together in their youth. I won’t spoil anything for you but it’s a very well-written piece and I’m so glad it was included in the special issue.

Tonight on Fairly Legal, Sarah Shahi helps to mediate a case where a lesbian couple was fired for dating one another.

Not exactly how I wanted Sarah to interact with lesbians on TV again, but I’ll take it.

Do you ever wonder why big-time lesbian musicians don’t play at Pride? It’s because they aren’t offered enough cash. Melissa Etheridge played Pittsburgh Pride this year and said it was because they “showed her the money.” So basically PIttsburgh made it rain on Melissa.

The new iPhone iOS 6 will have some really cute gay emojis, which I can’t wait to send to all my friends after I think about making out with them.

I want to say congrats to Brandi Carlile on her ENGAGEMENT! That’s right, she’s officially off the market. Brandi wrote to her fans on AgainToday.com that she popped the question to GF Catherine Shepherd, who is also going to be heading up her charity, The Looking Out Foundation, as Executive Director. They told The Seattle Times they’re going to get married in a falling down barn, which sounds pretty rad already.

Out designer Patricia Field will make an appearance on Project Runway when it returns for a new season July 19. She also just opened a new store in NYC.

But in other Project Runway news, out designer Alicia Hardesty is a contestant! She’s behind a line called The Original Tomboy and it looks like she’s going to bring a much needed queer female eye to the Lifetime show. Team Alicia!
