Ah, the promise of summer. Lazy days in the summer sun… trips with friends and family… outings and adventures… long, hot days and breezy summer nights. BBQ’s, swimming in the lake, tanning at the pool, hiking the trails, making s’mores around the fire, spending much needed time with the people we love. Nothing beats summer fun days, except maybe planning your wardrobe for all of those adventures.
Here are some of the summer’s must-have’s for all of my fellow femmes.
Take it easy
Luckily, summer fun generally means all casual all the time. But casual doesn’t have to mean sloppy. In fact, it can mean nearly anything from super cute tops and cutoffs to t-shirts and color-soaked shorts.
Tipsy Elves makes the cutest tie-front top that they call their Laidback Lemon Hawaiian Tie shirt and Sand Cloud does a Retro Rainbow Tee that will make you extra happy that short-sleeve weather is upon us.
Buckle has a short that’s as comfy as it is low key sexy. They call it their Washed Stretch Short. And Hollister’s Advanced Stretch Low-Rise 3 inch Denim Short 3 is as well. It’s all about pairing things up to so you can look as good as you feel.
Dress the part
Of course, you’re still going to want to gussy up once in a while. In fact, sometimes a cute dress is the best way to beat the summer heat. If you’re feeling creative, scoot on over to Summisura and you can even design your very own dress. Their designs are classic perfection and you can mix and match tops and bottoms and choose your fabrics and features. They have VERY cute blazers too for the soft butch in your life or to pair with cute tee and jeans. AC can get very cold the hotter it gets outside. With so many yummy fabrics and options, you can design the girly blazer of your dreams!
Another label who is doing really fun prints this season is Cosima. I fell head over heels for their Cactus dress, which is super stylish and reads as very put together while being crazy comfortable.
All that glitters
Casual clothes paired with sparkly jewelry is one of my favorite ways to dress up all of your summer looks. If you’re seeking something dreamy, check out the peach moonstone pieces over at A Worthy Brand.
The Helen hairpins, the Marie bracelet, and the Megan necklace, can all be done in peach moonstone with a selection of metals as well as a variety of other sweet little stones.
If you prefer to take a walk on the wild side, you just may fall fast for these leather earrings from Lavish Leathers. Their designs are positively swoon-worthy and they offer something for nearly every look. Tassels and layers and shapes, oh my!
Accessorize for your life
As a general rule, we femmes have long hair. As a specific rule, that hair has got to be put in a bun or ponytail as the temperature heats up. Keeping an elastic on your wrist looks sloppy and leaves a silly looking mark. Enter this clever invention. Adorable bangles from Go Girl Designs that hold a hair elastic for whenever you’re ready. The ‘Ebony and Ivory’ and the ‘Busy Girl’ in rose gold are two of my faves. You’d never know that they busy holding your hair elastic while they’re equally busy making you look tres chic.
Your hair deserves a little extra summer fun as much as the rest of you does, which is what makes these beachy starfish hairclips from Isabelle Batz so adorable. They are made from real starfish so they are quite fragile. But the beachy look they’ll give your locks makes it totally worth it.
Get carried away
This tote is so much fun. It’s from Isabelle Batz and they call it their Opal Aura tote bag. It’s made of this super sturdy pvc in this groovy silver holographic colorway. It has O ring handles, is fully lined, and has a cool magnetic closure. Day to night, it’s the perfect size to hold just a little bit of everything.
If you’re looking for something that’s as high function as it is high fashion, this might be right up your alley. SportsChic, a female-owned company in California has come out with the tote to end all totes. It’s a vegan, super sharp looking, do-it-all kind of bag. The thermal pockets keep drinks hot or cold. It gives you easy access to the plethora of things you can toss in. And, it even has a spacious waterproof, antimicrobial nylon interior sports flex mesh pockets, a secure zipper pocket, key leash, and a padded sleeve. And it comes in all sorts of spot-on summer colors.
Hit the road
I love a great handbag as much as the next femme, but sometimes a girl wants to go handsfree. Now hear me out, these may seem silly at first. But I have to tell you, being able to carry your phone, cards, money, and ID when you’re wearing a cute dress without pockets is amazing. Check out these babies from PortaPocket to hold all of your stuff while they hold on to you.
And if you do have a pocket onboard, you can always opt for a seriously fabulous cardholder like the ones Vianel makes. So chic and you’ll have everything all tucked together in one spot. You’ll have to put your lipstick in your other pocket, of course. Totally worth it.
Paint the town
Maniology offers the cutest way to show off your style, as well as say your piece with special nail polish and plates for stamping all sorts of great sayings and fun designs right on your nails. It’s so easy and the result is super professional looking. It’s a great way to dress up your hands and to let your fingers do the talking.
Show your pride
Tipsy Elves makes all sort of cute – and over the top – goodies from onesies to tees. And they have lots of fun stuff for Pride this year, including these very on-trend rainbow tassel earrings. With these in your ears, you can be sure that your pride will be loud and clear without you saying a word.
From classic Tory Burch wedges to comfy Birkenstocks to ballet flats from oka B to cushy flip flops from Island Slipper, there’s really no better excuse for cute new shoes than summer.
And don’t let anyone ever tell you that you have enough shoes! You can never ever be too kind or have too many pairs of shoes. #FemmeRules
