“Orphan Black” recap (4.07): Boys want to be her, girls want to be her

Kira looks scared because she can probably sense the fact that her mum is talking to her dead sestra on a bridge overlooking the very train tracks she died on. Beth taunts Sarah, telling her to jump, and Sarah offers her a drink. Which is very nice, but Beth, being dead, can’t take it.

At the same time, Cosima goes science-rogue. Both sestras stand at a precipice. Scott shouts downstairs telling Cosima to stop whatever she’s doing, but Cosima says it’s worth the risk. Either it works and she’s cured or it doesn’t and they can learn from her dead body.which, no thank you.

I’m always singing Hamilton at this girl. STAAAY ALIIIIIVE

Sarah asks Beth how broken you have to be to actually kill yourself. Sarah screams into the screech of the train passing, trying to release this ache she feels, this hollow pain inside, this hopelessness that is consuming her.

Mrs. S calls Felix because when creepy children tell you something bad is going to happen, you listen. At the same time, he gets a call about Cosima from Scott. Felix panics; he has two sestras on the brink of suicide, two sestras about to risk it all to feel some sort of closure. But when Scott mentions that Cosima blames herself for Delphine, Felix realizes that he has news he forgot to mention in all the chaos following Kendall’s death. (WHICH. RUDE.)

So Felix calls Cosima, who has sliced a hole in her cheek and holding the maggotbot by tweezers, ready to implant. But finally she answers, and Felix tells her the good news: Krystal saw Delphine get shot in the parkade, like Evie said, but Krystal also saw someone else take her away, and that she was alive at the time. Cosima sobs out a thank you and puts the bot down, and Felix promises her that they’re in this together.

Let’s find Delphine and make some REAL crazy science!

The next life Felix has to save is Sarah’s, and he finds her leaning over the railing, looking more broken than ever. Beth tells Sarah there’s something more than being genetically identical between them, and maybe that’s true. Maybe they share some aspects of consciousness; maybe that’s why Sarah can talk to Beth sometimes, why Kira can channel them all. Maybe that’s why Sarah and Cosima broke down around the same time, why Sarah knew Helena wasn’t dead after Castor took her. Maybe.

Felix doesn’t see Beth, of course, but he tells his sestra to fight this hopelessness, to be strong. Beth tells her to bring “us” together, and at first I thought she meant she wanted Sarah to kill herself so they could be together in the afterlife. But as Felix says, “We need you,” and she steps back from the brink, I realize she means to bring the Leda clones together, as they were meant to be.

When Sarah comes home, Mrs. S is making breakfast. Sarah slumps into a chair, defeated, weary, and Mrs. S pust some eggs in front of her chicken. They take each other’s hand and sit in silence, the chasm between them starting to heal.

Mother-sestra bonding.
