Morning Brew – Wednesday, Feb. 22: Sia on retiring, Kate Moennig at the premiere for “Gone”

Good morning! Did you celebrate Fat Tuesday?

Sia says she’ll continue to create music but you won’t see her “publicly” any more – that is, no performances, videos or any other kind of appearance. The Aussie singer says she hates fame, which means Bridget McManus and I should probably stop writing about her all the time. But we love you, Sia.

Kate Moennig donned all black for the Gone premiere in Los Angeles this week.

Congrats to Archie Panjabi for taking home the NAACP Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series! We’re so glad you play Kalinda.

If you were hoping for a Kalinda/Dana romance on The Good Wife, it looks like that is definitely not happening. Monica Raymund has been cast on a new show called Chicago Fire, playing “Gabriella, a fast-thinking and fearless paramedic committed to her job.” I might just watch that. I recently read a memoir by a lesbian firefighter in San Francsico called Fighting Fire by Caroline Paul. I highly recommend it!

Brandi Carlile performed her song “Keep Your Heart Young” for a KXT Live Session. Check it out.

In case you’re a fan of Syd tha Kid or The Internet, then you will like this behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Purple Naked Ladies.

But when it comes to hip-hop I’m digging, I prefer a different kind of Kid: So The Kid (STK). Here’s the out Portland artist’s video for “Loud Only.”

AfterEllen.com reader Brooke pointed out that Ruby Rose is in this music video from 360 called “Boys Like You.” Watch it and get hyped for our upcoming interview with the model/actress/DJ/fashion designer in which she opens up about all kinds of things – including her split from Catherine McNeil and the Aussie star who came out to her before publicly telling the world.
