Morning Brew – Monday, Dec. 5: Diana Nyad in “The New York Times,” Ilene Chaiken on feeling good about her work

Good morning! Today we’re going to have our Gift Guide for the Gay Woman for you and I’m so psyched about it. I love gift guides!

The New York Times magazine profiled out marathon swimmer Diana Nyad and, besides the great write-up, Catherine Opie took the fabulous photos.

Ruby Rose has a message for you! Yes, you!

Ilene Chaiken was interviewed by Fashion News Live at an opening for Romi Klinger‘s jewelry line. Topics: The Real L Word and how she feels about being “at the forefront of lesbian media.” (“If I am at the forefront of lesbian representation in the media, then yes I feel good about it.”)

There is a lesbian elf in a new animated film called Arthur Christmas. Apparently she is a “master at gift-wrapping.” I haven’t seen it so I don’t know how anyone knows she’s a lesbian, but I like the idea of this.

The BSU Daily News has some clips of Rachel Maddow‘s talk with David Letterman on their campus over the weekend. Loving her shoes.

Ellen and Portia went antiquing this weekend and they both wore very sensible shoes. Not as bright as Maddow’s, though!

Out Grammy-winning musician Sharon Isbin is on the cover of Classical Guitar and Musos magazine this month! She also talked with Joan Armatrading for a series called “My Favorite Guitarist” on BBC Radio 4.
