Morning Brew – Wednesday, Nov. 30: Kaya Scodelario on romancing Billie Piper, Joan Jett’s Jaguar becomes a rock ‘n roll artifact

Good morning!

Kaya Scodelario says she doesn’t have any actual sex scenes with Billie Piper in Love Love. She explains:

I think the main focus of the programme is to put these two women in a situation and understand the connection and emotions without it being a sexual thing. There are no sexual scenes. I hope people can watch it and understand that genuinely, and not just think, “Oh she’s getting it off with Billie Piper.” Which obviously they will think, because I did too!

OK, maybe we thought that. They will kiss, though, and Kaya says she loved the whole thing.

Working with Billie was really, really good. It was scary taking on that role, having to have an emotion with a woman like that. The whole idea of love and relationships is my favourite thing to do on camera. So it was great to push it a step further and do it with a woman.

Out TV presenter Clare Balding thinks it’s BS that the UK’s shortlist for Sports Personality of the Year has no women on it. I agree!

Ellen is not super psyched on Siri. It won’t even let her text Portia.

I love when Band of Thebes does this: It’s a collection of LGBT authors’ favorite books from the year. It always gives me something new to read!

Want to give your gf something kind of hilarious and cute this holiday season? Try this audiobook: Hey Diddle Diddle: A Naughty Delight for Lesbians and Other Grownups. Doesn’t that sound kind of amazing?

Some good news in returning lesbians to TV: Pretty Little Liars has been picked up for a third season and White Collar will return for its own third season January 17.

Joan Jett’s first car, a 1983 Jaguar XJ-S H.E., is now on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. She didn’t even have her license when she bought it!

Uh Huh Her talked with Soma magazine working with producer Wendy Melvoin of Wendy and Lis fame on their latest album, Nocturnes. Cam said:

Wendy kept trying to push my vocals up front, but I said, “Hell no.” I see our singing as another instrument, part of the overall sound of the songs. Our goal is to integrate our voices so it sounds like one big voice in a lush soundscape, kinda like ABBA.

Uh Huh Her is so ABBA! Now if they could cover “Dancing Queen,” I can die happy.
