Morning Brew – Monday, Oct. 24: Rosie’s GF wasn’t out to her parents, The Black Dahlia comes to “American Horror Story”

Good morning!

Mena Suvari is coming to American Horror Story and she’ll be playing The Black Dahlia, aka the bisexual actress who was murdered in 1947. While it’s unclear as to if she’ll be the real Black Dahlia (nee Elizabeth Short), it’s probably likely, considering the show is set in Los Angeles. And Mena is no stranger to playing queer chicks!

First Run Features has put out a DVD boxset called “The Art of Filmmaking” and one of the documentaries included is Lavender Limelight: Lesbians in Film from 1997. Interviewees include Rose Troche, Jennie Livingston and Maria Maggenti. But since it comes with a few other docs, the price is a little hefty: $79.95.

So who made this year’s Pink List? I’ll tell you! Jessie J (#3), Clare Balding (#4), Sue Perkins (#5), Heather Peace (#10), Mary Portas (#22), Val McDermid (#31), Jane Hill (#33), Stella Duffy (#34) and Phyllida Lloyd (#60) to name a few. Women did not have too poor a showing this time around!

Rosie O’Donnell‘s girlfriend, Michelle Rounds, was not out to her parents, apparently. Her dad told a reporter:

It totally hit us out of left field. We only found about Michelle liking girls when all this came out about them a few weeks ago. It’s been hard to take. This has been a painful experience for me and my wife. We’d always held out hope that Michelle would eventually find a nice guy to marry, settle down and have kids. And now this, it’s pretty shocking stuff for us to digest.

Sounds like he would have been really easy to come out to!

Wild Flag has released a new video and they are playing baseball against some real animals.

Don’t ask this woman if her daughter is a lesbian. She doesn’t know! The woman, Silvia Pinal, is the host of a TV show called Mujer, Casos De La Vida Real and her daughter is apparently out in the club kissing chicas.

If you are Canadian and tried to watch Lost Girl last night, you were probably outraged when Showcase accidentally aired a rerun. Now you won’t get a new episode until Oct. 30, which means our recap won’t be up until, you know, Dorothy Snarker can actually see the episode, too. She told me “eventually we’ll get that Doccubus action we’ve all been waiting for.” I hope so!
