Morning Brew – Monday, Sept. 12: Ellen and Portia sign a deal for a new show with NBC, another lesbian on “X-Factor”

How are you feeling? I’m basically never going to get over the season finale of True Blood last night.
Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have inked a deal with NBC to co-produce a new show with the network. It’s going to be a sitcom about “dueling sisters” and Portia will play one of them. Apparently there was a bidding war between all of the networks. Not so shocking!
A BBC program called “Getting Bi” will air next Monday night. It’s focused on out singer/songwriter Tom Robinson but producer Ashley Byrne says that it will appeal to many people, maybe even you:
It’s clear there’s a whole swathe of the population who don’t see their sexual identity in neat pre-defined boxes — and this 30 minute doc begins to challenge some of the basic assumptions many people have about those who identify as bisexual.

It’s apparently huge news today that a lesbian couple foster parented a young boy and put photos of him wearing girls’ clothing on Facebook. This makes them unfit parents somehow.
There’s a lesbian contestant wowing the judges on X-Factor UK. Her name is Samantha Brookes and she told The Daily Star:
I’ve been with my girlfriend for a year. She’s my rock, she takes everything in her stride, she’s amazing but I want to keep her private.
She also revealed they are trying to have kids. If she keeps going in the competition, though, that might need to be put on hold for a bit!
For the record, that’s one lesbian on X-Factor Australia and one lesbian on X-Factor UK. The ball is in your court, X-Factor USA!
LGBT Iranians want people to know they exist, so they’ve started a Facebook page called “We Are Everywhere.” Seriously, one just popped up behind me and said “Boo!” Scared the crap out of me. Check under your bed!
