Afternoon Delight: Kenneth Cole keeps up his LGBT-themed ads, The Lingerie Football League’s new season starts tonight

Happy birthday to Melissa McCarthy! The Bridesmaids star turns 41 today.

American fashion designer Kenneth Cole has launched a new campaign entitled, “What You Stand For.” Cole is asking folks to join in “a series of provocative debates that are intended to educate and inspire us all to understand relevant social issues from a larger perspective.” Cole, who has supported AIDS research and awareness since 1985, has released billboards and videos to get people involved in the heated debates regarding guns, pro-choice, gay rights and war. (My views: I’m anti-gun, pro-choice, pro-gay rights and anti-war.)

This morning, tickets for Live Talks Los Angeles: An Evening with Jane Lynch went on sale. The Emmy Award winning Glee star will discuss her memoir Happy Accidents with Adam Scott on Sunday, October 2 at the Club Nokia at 7 p.m.

It’s official: Black Swan actress Natalie Portman has turned down a starring role in the drama Adaline. Adaline is the story of a young woman who mysteriously stops aging after a freak accident. Former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has also turned down the role. Umm, I’ll take it!

For those of you who love ladies and sports, The Lingerie Football League premieres tonight on MTV2 at 10 p.m. (Comedian and California Quake footballer Jennie McNulty is not a fan of these scantly clad athletes, are you?)

Lady Gaga is causing controversy again. China’s Ministry of Culture has ordered music download sites to delete songs by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and other pop artists because they were not submitted for mandatory government screening. The ministry posted a list of 100 songs, six Lady Gaga songs and all from her latest album. The songs have not officially been labeled inappropriate they just had not been approved by the government. The ministry’s website stated that the websites have until September 15 to delete the songs or they would be punished. Listening to Gaga’s “Judas” track is punishment enough.

Speaking of Gaga, the songstress will take the stage with Adele and Tony Bennett during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in a musical tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. The VMAS air this Sunday at 9 p.m.

House‘s Olivia Wilde has signed on to replace pregnant actress Jennifer Garner in the film Better Living Through Chemistry. Wilde will play a trophy wife who seduces her Cowboys & Aliens co-star Sam Rockwell from his loveless marriage. Wilde and Rockwell then plot to kill Wilde’s husband. Sounds like a comedy to me!

Hollywood siren and mega-mommy Angelia Jolie attended the trial of Congolese warlord charged with recruiting child soldiers and forcing others into sex trafficking. While outside the International Criminal Court Jolie spoke out against these outlandish acts.

Friday, September 16 marks the beginning of the 2011 Q Film Festival in Long Beach, CA. Tickets are on sale and screenings will be held at the Art Theater Long Beach (2025 East 4th Street).

This weekend Ventura, California is celebrating Gay Pride. Tonight at 8:3 p.m. I will be taking the stage with my two tambourines (one is not enough) to perform my one hour comedy show, Chaos and Cleavage, at Paddy’s Bar and Lounge (2 W. Main St. $5 donations go to a local LGBT charity). And tomorrow I’ll be performing a free show at Claremont McKenna College at 7:30 p.m. (McKenna Auditorium 390 East 9th Street, Claremont, CA).

Lesbian/Bi Photo of the Day

TV host and money master Suze Orman and her partner Kathy Travis attended the OWN Network 2011 Winter Press Tour. This photo is from January 2011, but it was so cute, I figured better late than never.

Have a great weekend!
