Afternoon Delight: Jane Lynch hosts the “Do Something Awards” tonight, new cover art for BjÀ?Ârk

Good afternoon. Is it Friday yet?

Tonight Glee superstar Jane Lynch will be hosting The Do Something Awards on VH1.

The always hilarious Lynch will entertain a room full of celebrities, including Amy Poehler, Justin Bieber, Olivia Wilde, Rose McGowan and the fierce Tyra Banks. Lady Gaga is also said to be making an appearance. (Five bucks says she’ll have a pre-taped message for the audience.) The Do Something Awards air at 9/8c on VH1.

Speaking of Gaga, the songstress has just released three promos for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Gaga’s underwire must have really irritated her since she took her bra off in the middle of the shoot.

Gaga, two words: sports bra.

If you pick up September’s InStyle magazine, check out Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren‘s interview. The always-articulate Mirren gives her views on plastic surgery.

She told the magazine, “The only thing I don’t like on young people is plastic surgery. The purity of youthful beauty is so fantastic to me that it’s horrific when young girls get fake things.”

This week, The Kids Are All Right‘s Julianne Moore attended the annual Lebowski Fest, in honor of the cult-classic film The Big Lebowski. Die-hard Lebowski fans gather from all over the world to pay tribute to the 1998 film and the cast, who provided a panel discussion of the movie. The Big Lebowski is 13 years old – what’s left to talk about? The next Lebowski Fest is in L.A. Sept 23 and 24.

The legendary Patti Smith received rave reviews for her memoir Just Kids (about Smith’s life with deceased photographer Robert Mapplethorpe), and now Smith’s memoir is being transformed into a feature film. Gladiator screenwriter John Logan is currently working with Smith on the script. I wonder which actress they will cast in the leading role. Any suggestions? My picks are Kristen Stewart or Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Björk is back! (Although, I don’t think she officially went anywhere.) Check out the Icelandic singer’s cover for her new album Biophilia, scheduled for release on September 27. (Bjork is also featured on the Sucker Punch soundtrack, which I own and love.)

On Friday, August 26 I will be performing my one-hour comedy show “Chaos & Cleavage” for Ventura Pride at Paddy’s Bar & Lounge (2 West Main St. Ventura, CA.) The show starts at 8:30 p.m. but don’t miss out on the 7 p.m. luau beforehand. A $5 suggested donation will  go to a local charity.

Tonight,  lesbian comedian Fortune Feimster will claim a seat on E’s Chelsea Lately‘s roundtable, and Tuesday, August 23 MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow will stop by the Late Show with David Letterman.
