Afternoon Delight: “Anyone But Me” passes the 10 million views mark, new video from “The Playboy Club”

Happy birthday to Grey’s Anatomy‘s Jessica Capshaw! The fictitious Dr. Arizona Robbins turns 35 today. Former X-Files special agent Gillian Anderson is also celebrating her 43rd birthday today. I miss you, Scully!

Sixty-one-year-old marathon swimmer Diana Nyad ended her attempt to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage this morning after 29 hours in the water. Strong winds blew Nyad 15 miles off course while she was suffering from asthma, shoulder pain and was vomiting. Nyad told the NY Times, “It was my decision to stop and nobody else’s. I’m deeply grieved and disappointed, but I can hold my head up high. We pictured that moment of me crawling up on that Key West shore. We knew it was my year and my time, even at age 61. It was a fairy tale, but the fairy tale didn’t come true.” Nyad might not have completed her journey but her story has inspired many and I can’t wait to see what Nyad does next.

Glee actress and author Jane Lynch spoke with AARP Magazine about her upcoming memoir, Happy Accidents. When asked about a life revelation, Lynch shared, “When I was getting to know my wife, Lara, we’d take walks in Runyon Canyon and I’d tell her how id used to go out of my way to feel alienated and avoid people. The woman Lara knows today is nothing like that — I’m now so open to connection and intimacy I surprise myself — so she said ‘Why don’t we write these [stories] down?'”

Lynch also spoke about her dream movie role: “To be in a Woody Allen movie … that’s all about me! It would have to be shot someplace cool, with really good coffee — my life revolves around the stuff.” I’d watch Lynch’s stuff any day! Happy Accidents, which includes a forward written by my comedy hero, Carol Burnett, will be released on September 13.
