New Music Tuesday: 8-9-2011

Welcome back to another round of new music everybody! There’s not a whole heck of a lot to report which is fine by me as I am still recovering from Lollapalooza weekend and I’m not really sure when the exhaustion will go away. I have to say – this year there ended up being an incredible amount of gorgeous female artists – from Grace Potter and Christina Perri to Ellie Goulding and Teri Suarez (Teri Gender Bender from Le Butcherettes). Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see as many acts as I had hoped, but it was a good time either way.

Me & LP – Chez Raymond EP (Sargent House)

This 7-song EP from Matthew Embree and Lisa Papineau is low-key and utterly awesome like a warm mug of Celestial Seasonings cinnamon apple spice tea on the first chilly day of the year. This would be a great album to listen to while riding your bike through forests or on a camping trip while you roast marshmallows.

Here’s a free download of their single, “La Belle Tocade“.

Eyes Set to Kill – White Lotus (Maphia)

The girls of this Metal group want you to know things have changed a bit (and since I haven’t celebrated their entire collection, I have taken this from their Facebook page). From what I’ve listened to on their previous albums, it seems as though they’ve gone from screamcore metal to a softer, more melodic hardcore rock/metal mixture. Their album title, “White Lotus”, refers to this metamorphosis, which brings with it, in my opinion, the opportunity for a broader reach.

Honorable Mentions: Rye Rye & Robyn’s “Never Will Be Mine” remixes, Scattered Trees, Dom, Jay Z & Kanye West, The Horrors, Pepper Rabbit.
