Afternoon Delight: Jane Lynch and 700 cats, Emma Stone goes gangster

Good afternoon!

Happy birthday to lesbian comedian Carol Leifer! The actress and Emmy Award-winning writer is 55.

BridesmaidsMaya Rudolph is also celebrating her 39th birthday today.

On Sunday, more than 800 LGBT people were married in the state of New York, including three LGBT couples that were married during the Broadway musical Hair. The 15-minute ceremony was officiated by one of the show’s cast members and after the official wedded kiss the entire cast and audience sang “Let The Sun Shine.”

If you enjoy listening to Jane Lynch‘s voice as much as I do (if her voice were edible, it would taste like red velvet cake with a shot of espresso) tune in this Saturday, July 30 to hear Lynch narrate Nat Geo WILD’s The Lady With 700 Cats. That is a lot of f–king cats! The show airs at 10 p.m. and I’ll be watching with my asthma spray in hand.

I know the Harry Potter film series is officially over, but I’m still keeping tabs on half-blood Emma Watson. Check out Watson’s new Lancome fragrance campaign. Our little Hermione is all grown up!

Speaking of Emmas, Easy A‘s Emma Stone has been asked to star in Gangster Squad alongside Sean Penn and her Crazy Stupid Love co-star Ryan Gosling. Stone will play a “sharp-tongued siren” named Jean caught in a love triangle with gangster Mickey Cohen (Penn) and the police officer, Sergeant Jerry Wooters (Gosling). Sean Penn is old enough to be Stone’s father!

All right you Staten Island beauties, head over to On The Rocks for a night of LGBT karaoke tomorrow evening! Singing starts at 9 p.m. (1144 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY) Whenever I do karaoke I always sing Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” What would you sing?

Queer director J.A. Steel has made it her mission to crank out historical horror/action films. Steel recently released her newest trailer for lesbian/ghost film Blood Fare starring out actor Michelle Wolff. (My award-winning, over-the-top eye acting also makes an appearance in the film.)

Attention Los Angeles beach bunnies! On Saturday, August 6, head over to Will Rogers Beach for the Beach Volleyball Classic event. The fundraiser benefits the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, so pick six to eight friends and get ready to rumble!

If you’re a Lez Be Proud fan, OneMoreLesbian.com will be posting a new episode and hosting a live chat with the cast tomorrow at 7 p.m. PST.

Video of the Day:

Rizzoli & Isles star Sasha Alexander stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss her popular show’s lesbian subtext.

I’m going to try the Rizzoli & Isles drinking game.
