Morning Brew – Wednesday, July 13: Dakota Fanning chops off her hair, out women at Outfest

Happy Hump Day!

Norwegian band The Hungry Hearts has created an album for lesbians, called In Your Face, and they’ve asked Indian actors Kapil Sharma and Yuvraaj Parashar to star in their new music video. They all met at the Tel Aviv LGBT Film Fest, where Kapil and Yuvraaj were representing their film Dunno Y… Na Jaane Kyu. Says Hungry Heart band member Tonje Gjevjon:

We have been toying with the idea of using Kapil and Yuvraaj in the music album as Bollywood actors visiting Norway. We hope to shoot this video in summer and also want to use Kapil and Yuvraaj’s voice for a couple of Hindi lines.

Norwegian Indian lesbian anthems? That’s an entirely new genre! Here’s another one of their videos.

Time magazine interviewed Steven Petrow, the author of a new book on gay and lesbian etiquette. They asked him if it’s ever OK to inquire about the father of a lesbian mother’s child:

Not really. One, lets say it’s a young child and the mother hasn’t talked to her child about how he or she even came into the world. You as a parent want to have that conversation with your kid before anyone else has information about that. And secondly, that’s really not anyone else’s business. There are lots of things in the world that we’re curious about. Holding back is also a good thing sometimes.

Why does it matter anyway? Do you think you might know the guy?

Outfest is happening in LA all week, and here are a few of the stars that have hit the red carpet for some of the premieres.

Lesbians are more responsible with their money. Do you think it’s because of Suze Orman?

Stevie Nicks and Vanessa Carlton duetted on “Hear the Bells” in NYC. Pretty damn cool.

Albert Nobbs, the film in which Glenn Close plays a woman who passes for a man, has been picked up for wide distribution and will hit theaters this fall. Yay! She looks so dapper.

How do you like Dakota Fanning’s new cropped ‘do?

If you haven’t purchased Margaret Cho’s album Cho Dependent, now’s the best time! It’s on sale as part of a “sexting bundle” to profit YAWMA.
