Morning Brew – Monday, June 20: Heather Peace, Jessie J and more out women on London’s Pride List, TV ads for “Candy Bar Girls”

Happy Monday!

Congrats to The Ellen DeGeneres Show for yet another Emmy win. It picked up the award for Ourtanding Talk Show at the Daytime Emmys last night. Hopefully she’s dancing in celebration.

Venice the Series, co-created by Guiding Light alum Crystal Chappell, also picked up an Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Short Format.

E! Online wants to know who you’d Ditch, Do or Marry: Lady Gaga, Evan Rachel Wood or Anna Paquin. (Here’s mine: Gaga, Evan, Anna.)

Speaking of ERW, the actress recently spoke with Glamour magazine about her personal style. She advised:

Mix things up. I used to love wearing ’30s and ’40s clothes. Recently, I’ve become more tomboyish.

Nurse Jackie‘s Dr. Coop (aka Peter Facinelli) told The L.A. Times he has created a backstory for his character and his lesbian moms.

I think that all of his current problems stem from the emotional baggage of his childhood. And I don’t think his issues stem from his parents being lesbians – I think it’s how they were as moms. He was coddled, and his upbringing has had an effect on him. He was unpopular, and he didn’t understand why. I imagine it as if he was a puppy in a room full of people who don’t like dogs. I think as a kid he was jumping all over people and was always getting kicked away. Now he’s a 12-year-old boy trapped in a 30-year-old body. That’s why I have so much sympathy for him. He doesn’t do anything out of malice. It’s just that he is completely self-absorbed and unaware.

And then one of his moms changed from Blythe Danner to Judith Light and now they are getting divorced. Talk about kicking him while he’s down!

Without getting super spoilery, Sacha Parkinson gave some hints as to what will happen with Sophie and Sian in her last few months of Corrie.

Sophie and Sian are so strong that something is going to have to happen to break them up. I’ve been told they’ll be leaving the door open for me but you never know for sure what’s going to happen. I mean, Sophie could bump Sian off – you really don’t know.

God, I hope not. No lesbian murderers please. How about a lesbian bikini pool party like Sacha had with Brooke Vincent this weekend? (Minus the lesbian part.)

The first lesbian pairing to marry in Nepal were actually from Denver. Congrats to the happy couple!

Know someone graduating this season? Perhaps they’d like to receive this card from you and Brittany S. Pierce.

Time Out London has released its Pride Power List of 2011 and it has the usual suspects like Sarah Waters, Clare Balding and Sue Perkins, but there are some new additions that I was happy to see: Alison Goldfrapp (pictured below), Jessie J, Pratibha Parmar and Heather Peace. The list is full of females, in fact.

And while we’re over in London, let’s take a look at the new TV ads for the lesbian reality show Candy Bar Girls, shall we? (There are two more at the link.)

The show debuts on Channel 5 on July 7.
