Morning Brew – Friday, May 20: Kreayshawn debuts video for “Gucci Gucci,” Lindsay Lohan gets asked about her sexuality

Hello lovers!

Have you heard of Kreayshawn? If not, you will soon. The Oakland-based lesbian MC is being endorsed by the likes of Soula Boy and she just released this majorly-hyped video for her single, “Gucci Gucci.”

I like how Kreayshawn just rolls up on that girl and she sticks around for the rest of the video. I know there are going to be inevitable comparisons to Lady Sovereign, but how do you feel about the song? All I know is I followed her on Twitter immediately after listening.

Speaking of hip-hop, The Lost Bois are trying to raise funding for the recording of their debut album. Head over to their Kickstarter page to support them. They’re half way there!

Lindsay Lohan was on The Kyle and Jackie O Show in Australia, and things got really awkward when the hosts asked about her sexual preferences.

You can see other clips at their site, where she speaks about her community service, her core group of friends and how she feels about Glee.

Vanessa Carlton debuted her new video, “Carousel,” from the upcoming album Rabbits on the Run. Very ethereal!

A newspaper in Annapolis faced scrutiny for a frontpage story they ran about two lesbian moms on Mother’s Day, and then they decided it was wrong for them to do so. They decided it wasn’t wrong to run the piece at all — just that they ran it on Mother’s Day. (Yeah, not really following…..) Here’s what they wrote:

In previous years we have written about single moms, poor moms, foster moms and handicapped moms – as well as the traditional moms with big families and heavy workloads. This year was different but difference is not what our readers wanted on a day when dad and kids shower love on the family matriarch. Unfortunately for us, we lost sight of what the readers want to read: feel good stories about people who reflect their values. Newspapers need to mirror its readers – all of them perhaps, but inclusion not at the exception of the majority.

Right, because the majority need to be highlighted constantly or else they will stop reading your paper and you will cease to exist and the world will end. We need only read about the same people and families over and over until the others just go away and start their own magazines or websites, depending on the state of the economy! Seriously, The Capital? You are out of touch and out of line and I feel for the lesbian moms that you featured in the piece because they are the ones being shamed by your ignorance and cowardice.

Desiree Shelton can take over the soap box now. I’ll step down and let her speak about gay bullying. You might remember her as one of the Minnesota teens who sued her school for the right to attend her winter dance with her girlfriend. She spoke with Minnesota Public Radio about her experience. You can listen below.

Brooke Vincent has signed on to do 12 more months of Coronation Street. Yay! The deal is said to be “lucrative,” which means Sophie is obviously a valuable character to the show.

Anna Torv and Jasika Nicole share some of their thoughts on Fringe theories in this video for the upcoming season.

And I just need to share this with you, because I’m gay like that. Deb Jennifer Carpenter and January Jones hung out at the Lakers game. They looked real cute together.

This week in Lesbianish TV: The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Talk (CBS 2 p.m.), Suze Orman on The Wendy Williams Show, Portlandia (IFC 4:15 p.m.) and The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC 9 p.m.) (Thanks Roni!)
