Morning Brew – Friday, March 25: Samantha Ronson goes out with a girl who isn’t Lindsay, Anna Paquin in a new short film

It’s Friday! Let’s start with some smooching.

Samantha Ronson was photographed kissing a mysterious brunette aka not Lindsay Lohan. How could Sam do that to her at at time like this!?!? (I’m kidding. Kind of.)

Australia’s Star-Observer thinks this K-pop group INY is the next t.A.T.u. They say there are “lesbian undertones in a controversial video that also features muggings, attempted rape and murder.” I am thinking more Run Lola Run than anything else, but I think someone once tried to make that into a lesbian thing, too.

Nepal’s Republica has a feature on a couple named Binu and Michael. Michael is what they refer to “third gender,” and describes the tough time they’ve had making it together. There are sweet lines like this:

This life, we’ll spend it together,” Michael says, holding Binu’s hands. “We won’t part or let the world tear us apart. For me, she’s my wife and I don’t care about the world.”

Read the whole thing and I dare you not to tear up.

Outsports.com has an essay from Emma Delsohn, a teen who came out while on her Catholic girls’ high school basketball team. An excerpt:

As time went by, I found it harder and harder to keep my sexuality from my teammates. I had been dating my girlfriend at the time for more than six months, and it was becoming increasingly obvious I was hiding something. Eventually, I cut my losses and mentioned my girlfriend in front of one of my teammates after a practice. I gave her permission to tell whoever she wanted. at the time, I figured word of mouth would be a little less scary and a lot less awkward. I walked quickly out of the gym, most of my team still inside, already feeling anxious about what the next day’s practice would bring.

I won’t spoil the rest for you. You’ll have to go to the blog to find out how it ends (and read the Ke$ha mention).

Anna Paquin is set to star in a new short film from True Blood assistant director Scott Schaeffer. The short will feature a few other girls from the show, too, like Deborah Ann Woll and Carrie Preston. Here’s the synopsis:

Following the death of her estranged playboy son, Helen discovers he was HIV positive. Disappointed and saddened, she sets off to warn the many women he slept with, only to find herself unexpectedly closer to her boy than ever before.

Spinner has the kind of article I loathe up right now, which is “25 Women Who Rock Right Now.” In any case, Jessie J, Katie Stelmanis (of Austra) and Beth Ditto all made the list.

Meghan McCain has written a piece for The Daily Beast where she imagines what it would be like for Rachel Maddow to interview Charlie Sheen and Sarah Palin. Here’s part of it:

Rachel:How do you both feel concerning gay marriage and gay rights? It’s a polarizing issue in America, even with the end of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

Charlie: Rachel, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has always been one of my favorite mottos.

Sarah: I do not agree with my opponent on this issue. I think marriage is between a man and a woman. And if two men lived with each other and had a child- Charlie: It would be just like my hit TV series. I got so much cash from that show, it funded my entire campaign and I’m giving tax cuts to everyone. But back to your question, Rachel, as many of you remember, I shared a passionate kiss with Jimmy Kimmel. What soft lips! They almost reminded me of my 278th girlfriend-back in junior high school. In conclusion, I support gay marriage and wouldn’t be closed off to considering it in my own life at some point in the future. Gay marriage is winning.
