Morning Brew – Thursday, March 10: Jessie J and her bisexuality cover “more!”, Lilith Fair is over for good

Morning!

While we were cheering and making .gifs out of Brittana scenes on Glee this week, the Parents Television Council was crying out in disgust. They, of course, were not so psyched on “Sexy.” They had several problems with the episode, but a rep said:

I’m sure if you were to talk to Fox or [creator] Ryan Murphy, they would say they’re trying to present an honest portrayal, and that it makes it easier for kids to talk to their parents about these issues, and all of that is certainly commendable. But at the same time, the show is based on making sexual content look cool. That’s why it’s a popular show.

And on the “Do You Wanna Touch Me” scene?

If you had a real-life instance of that, I think it’s fair to say the teacher involved would no longer be a teacher. But somehow it’s acceptable for a fictional teacher to do this. Again, this is a real problem. Real-world teachers don’t lap dance with their students.

Right, and that’s why they are not on TV. Boring!

What would happen if Sophie and Sian got hitched? Brooke Vincent is concerned they’d dress her all wrong.

I’m well excited. But I’m worried they’ll end up putting me in a suit because I always seem to be the one in jeans and trainers. I’m not like that. We want to be nice lesbians that look pretty. If we get married we’ll both wear a dress. I’ve told them not to make me butch. When we first got the storyline I asked them if they were going to make me shave my head and wear dungarees and I thought, “I can’t be doing that!”

Spoken by a true straight girl!

The Guardian thinks the new Skins season in the UK is boring and rehashing all of their past storylines. They cite Franky as the same as Emily, “the shy gay girl struggling with her sexuality.” I’m sure you’ll all have a lot to say about that.

In another Guardian piece, Marlene Dietrich is the only woman in drag featured amongst many dragged-out men in film. Of course, we could help them out by naming so many more. One of my favorites will always be Joyce Hiser in Just One of the Guys. I feel the need to watch it now.

Jessie J is on the cover of more! magazine and the featured quote: “I date girls and boys!” (Duh, she told us already.)
