Morning Brew – Friday, March 4: Anna Faris on everyone being bisexual, Beth Ditto on being “the wacky aunt” to her nieces

TGIF!

Anna Faris has played a lesbian in the horror flick May and also starred in the gender-bending flick The Hot Chick. She recently spoke to Vanity Fair for her her new film, Take Me Home Tonight, and the mag told her they think The Hot Chick “should be on the syllabus of every queer-studies or feminist-film course. It’s such a complex and hilarious assault on gender normativity.” Anna’s response:

Whoa. You know, I haven’t spent a lot of time thinking about this. And I am a little surprised that The Hot Chick has had any sort of resonance. But I guess it sort of speaks to the notion that we all may be a little bisexual. You know, there might just be a hint.

She followed this up with a sentence about her husband, but I would prefer to leave that part out.

In a new profile by The Montreal Gazette, Beth Ditto says she gets asked to do reality TV shows all the time.

Because I’m such a spectacle or something. Like: “She’ll say anything!”

She also said she goes home to Arkansas at least twice a year to see her nieces and nephews.

I don’t want to be that weird aunt that comes to town that you’re uncomfortable around, cause you don’t know them that well. I don’t mind being the wacky aunt, I just don’t want to be the stranger.

A comic I have never heard of named Russell Kane told Now that he has turned some women on when he dresses like a woman on stage.

I wasn’t expecting the amount of straight women who’ve sent me pervy Twitter and Facebook messages. I got a message from a girl claiming that I’d turned her lesbian! I’ve had gay guys asking me out, too.

No actual lesbians were likely turned on by that dude, but you never know.

Comic Book Resources is celebrating LGBT comics this month with a new comic each day. Today is one called Bewildered Bisexual from Melainia. (One name – like Madonna.)

Apparently lesbians are not going to get the the new Justin Bieber haircut. As you were.

Arizona Robbins came in fourth on the EW.com poll of characters you’d like to date. (Thanks Marnie!)

Melissa Etheridge has recorded a song with her tour opener Serena Ryder. Give a listen to “Broken Heart Sun.”
