Afternoon Delight: Lady Gaga on the cover of “Vogue,” Jane Lynch in an “air-drum comedy”

Yes, the rumors are true. Afternoon Delight is baa-aaack.

Are you still recuperating from Super Bowl XLV (which drew a record-breaking 111 million viewers)? While I enjoyed Fergie‘s bedazzled shoulder pads (and Fergie in general) and Will.i.am‘s Bluetooth® fade, one of my favorite activities at the party I went to was watching some vintage Maya Rudolph (from an old SNL sketch) on a friend’s iPad.

I miss her!

Also, in case you were wondering, Tasya van Ree‘s parties are better than yours. The one captured in the video below was chock-full of celesbians and their friends of undeclared sexuality. Observe.

OK Glee fans, here’s some good news. According to Heather Morris (via TVGuide.com), substitute teacher Holly Holliday (guest star Gwyneth Paltrow) gives the kids some sex ed (“All the kids are lost in their sexual knowledge,” says Morris) in the March 8 episode.

The education includes putting condoms on bananas, explaining how babies are made and “Holly also encourages Santana to open up about her bisexuality.” The part you may not be so crazy about is that this includes encouragement to “show a deeper side to new beau, Sam (Chord Overstreet).” Overstreet told TVGuide.com, “Sam’s a conservative guy. But now he’s oddly turned on by Santana’s forcefulness.”

Funny, so is Brittany!

In other Glee news, Gawker.com has put together a handy “Glee Guide for Straight Guys.” I think it also works for lesbians who don’t like the show enough to watch it regularly (or at all), but do enjoy watching women perform in cheerleading uniforms and flaming bras.

Bridget McManus Presents: That Time of the Month airs tonight/early tomorrow on Logo, at 4 am, then watch for the online version of the episode later this week. I’ve heard Trish Bendix is making a guest appearance in this one, but don’t quote me on that. My McManus sources are sometimes a little sketchy.

I don’t know how you’ll feel about this news, but it would be my cinematic version of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup (if I liked Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups). One of my favorite directors, Werner Herzog, may be shooting a movie starring, Naomi Watts, one of my favorite actors. Slashfilm.com is reporting that the “epic” project, Queen of the Desert, would star Watts as Gertrude Bell (1868-1926) “in a film that could easily become a companion piece to Lawrence of Arabia.”

Bell is known for her work as a writer, explorer, political officer, and archaeologist, and she never married. Any Bell scholars out there who can tell us if we should get our hopes up for a lesbian biopic?

I don’t think you even need to be a big Lady Gaga fan to share her excitement about her upcoming Vogue cover. Anyone who has ever rooted for an underdog can appreciate it.

Speaking of underdogs, remember when we told you about the ass-kicking mom who defended her son’s choice to dress up like a girl for Halloween? Looks like the saga continued for her family long after the press tour ended.

NPR is hooking us up with a first listen to PJ Harvey‘s eighth album Let England Shake (out on Feb. 15). Nothing says “Be my Valentine” like “bleak and violent” topics and subjects such as “landscapes that have been torn up, both physically and spiritually.” Also, NPR promises that “the autoharp is the defining instrument here.” I love an autoharp!

Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz is teasing us again with promises of an AD movie. He told Digital Spy, “We’ve started that process and it is our sincere hope to shoot it this year and get it out this year.” Really? Then?

Need a Jane Lynch fix? Try Adventures of Power, an “air-drum comedy” starring Lynch, Michael McKean, Ari Gold and Adrian Grenier.

If you like skinny pale guys in tight shorts, you’ll probably love it!

See you tomorrow!
