Afternoon Delight: Sexy new “Nikita” photos, good news for “Glee” fans, and a new scene from next week’s “Pretty Little Liars”

AfterEllen reader C.A. sent me an email with the following subject: Because there is a God – and her name’s Bianca Lawson. And how right she was! Here’s the clip she sent along from next week’s Pretty Little Liars.

The word you’re looking for is “adorable.”

Lt. Dan Choi, who made headlines when he came out on national TV 17 months ago, was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard this week. Since coming out, Choi has been a tireless advocate for the the revocation of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” He released a statement yesterday, saying that the letter he received discharging him from military service was “an infuriating and painful announcement.”

Chely Wright has worked with military servicemen and women for years, and she took to her Facebook page to protest when she heard the news:

This is wrong. Lt. Dan Choi is one of the brightest, most dedicated Americans to serve in our nation’s military. He has just been fired because he has the integrity to refuse to lie. Shame on America’s ridiculous, unfair, ignorant “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

Here’s some happy news for Brittany fans from the set of Glee:

Question: Got any Glee scoop that doesn’t involve stunt casting or musical tributes? I’m kind of sick of both. -Geoffrey

Ausiello: Ryan Murphy apparently feels your pain. The show’s creator tells me: “The second season will be more intimate and quieter with less musical numbers. People expect that we’re going to keep trying to top ourselves and out- Madonna ourselves. But we’re actually doing the opposite of that. I love the characters we’ve created. I love that I’m doing a whole episode around Heather Morris [Brittany]. We’ve finished a couple of the scripts, and I love them even more than I did the first season. I just think they’re more emotional and funnier.”

Earlier this week, New York Magazine Vulture blog took issue with Ellen Page’s wardrobe in Inception. Here’s an excerpt from “The Ellen Page Inception Look: Asexual Chic”:

Since Page plays the asexual sidekick, it makes sense that Nolan wouldn’t dress her as he does Marion Cotillard’s character, decked out in gorgeous, lingerie-inspired couture. And yet, did he have to make her look like a little boy?

And now Women & Hollywood has taken issue with the way Vulture took issue. Here’s their response from “Leave Ellen Page Alone!”

First, that whole term “asexual attire” seems highly coded for “see even her film characters make her look like a lesbian.” And building on that, how do you get to wearing jeans with a bizarro neck kerchief makes you asexual? If a guy had been wearing that type of wardrobe this conversation would never be happening.

I dunno. I thought Ellen Page was really hot in Inception.

When The CW kicks off its fall season, they’ll be bringing the sexy new drama Nikita. How do I know it’s sexy? Because they just released these promo photos of Maggie Q.

Serena van der Who?

The always-articulate and engaging Pam Spaulding of Pam’s House Blend was chosen by CNN for their “Most Intriguing People Column.”

Spaulding writes her blog from Durham, North Carolina, where she lives with her wife, Kate. They legally married in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2004.

Spaulding says, “I often blog about difficult subjects, race being one of them, and the predominant audience are LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] readers. I try to make it a safe environment to talk about race, because it’s a difficult topic even within the LGBT community.”

Today’s Afternoon Delight is brought to you by Yvonne Strahovski and her puppies. TheLinster emailed me yesterday to ask who’s cuter, and you know what? I really don’t know.

Hope your weekend is as beautiful as you are!
