Morning Brew – Fri. July 6: Naya Rivera talks about the future of Brittana, Paige returns to “Pretty Little Liars”

Good morning, Brewbies! It’s Friday, and if you’re reading this, you didn’t blow off your head with fireworks during the 4th of July. Congratulations! Lots of lesbians celebrated America’s birthday in lots of ways this year. Take Mary Cheney, for example. Dick Cheney‘s lesbian daughter who is married to her lesbian wife with whom she has a child donated the maximum amount of money possible (under current campaign finance laws) to Mr. Gays-Are-Second-Class-Citizens Romney’s presidential campaign. LGBT blog Unicorn Body has some feelings about it, which can be summed up as: WTF!

The Hollywood Reporter dropped some delicious Glee scoop yesterday afternoon, and by “delicious” I mean it’s the first time Naya Rivera has really talked about her role in season four. She says Santana will be “a big part” of next season. Here, I’ll just let Lea Michele tell it to you:

[Rivera] and I were begging [Murphy], ‘We want to work together more and want Rachel and Santana to be in New York together … We’re still not certain where exactly Santana is going to end up but she has the golden ticket to New York City … I really hope that it pans out because I think it would be so exciting to see Rachel get a knock on her door from Santana and just be like, “Can we live together?” We’ll have to see what happens.

Rivera also chatted a little about the future of Brittana:

Obviously she’s not in high school anymore, so there is separation there. I don’t know what [potentially moving to New York] will mean for her. The writers really have to hash that out, but it’s now entering into a long-distance-type relationship … I think that Brittany will always be Santana’s first love. Whether or not they end up together, she’ll always have a special place in her heart for Brittany. I don’t think that they will ever not be in each other’s lives.

The Washington Blade posted a really interesting piece about Christian music icon Amy Grant‘s relationship with her gay fans:

I don’t particularly care what Grant’s personal views are on homosexuality. Sure, it would be great if she would at least take the Dolly Parton approach to embracing/acknowledging us. Lord knows we need all the help we can get on the LGBT rights front where each step ahead feels like pulling teeth. But conversely, what does it say about us as fans if we need some sort of acknowledgement from our favorite singers? I do get it – when you’ve invested emotionally and financially in a singer/brand who’s meant so much to you, especially during the raw, painful formative years (and let me tell you, it’s lonely being the only gay fish in an evangelical, Bible Belt pond when you’re 13), it means a lot to know those you admire are on board. But as adults, ultimately that need for validation says more about our own desperation than anything it might suggest about Grant.

If you grew up in the Bible Belt (like me!) during Grant’s superstardom, the whole article is worth a read.

ABC Family has finally released some promo images of Paige’s reappearance on Pretty Little Liars, and whooo boy, is she lezzing it up. Would you get a load of that outfit?

Also, JennaBot, I don’t what the hell you’re wearing right now, but it is awesome.
