Yvonne Strahovski looks past “Chuck” to Streisand

Last week, to our great relief, we learned that Chuck has been renewed for another season. The show will wrap after that, but at least we get one more year of Agent Sarah Walker.

Beyond that, Sarah will show her gorgeous assortment of undies only to Chuck. But I suspect we will enjoy Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Agent Walker, for a very long time.

Friday, The Hollywood Reporter brought word that Strahovski has been cast in Paramount’s upcoming comedy My Mother’s Curse, opposite Seth Rogen and (gulp) Barbra Streisand.

The story features an inventor (Rogen) who takes his mother (Streisand) on a cross-country car trip to sell his invention – and to reunite Mom with a long lost love. Strahovski plays Rogen’s high school sweetheart.

Personally, I’m not a Rogen fan. But the rest of the people involved in My Mother’s Curse make me think that this could be a really good movie. The writer is Dan Fogelman, who wrote Cars and Cars 2, Bolt and Tangled, among others. Directing is Anne Fletcher, who’s best known for choreography but was director of the successful Sandra Bullock comedy, The Proposal. And, of course, Barbra.

This is a different role for Strahovski, who’s gone brunette for the part. But if you have any question about her comedy chops, I refer to you the parody Dorothy Snarker posted last month. Of course, to make the role truly memorable, the makers of My Mother’s Curse should capitalize on all of Strahovski’s assets. Anything else would just be wrong, right?

My Mother’s Curse will be released next March. Are you excited about seeing Yvonne StraHOTski in a comedy flick? How awesome would it be if Barbra and Yvonne made a musical trailer together?
