If you’re not already in the habit of watching RuPaul’s Drag U, this week’s episode would be a good one to check out. The Logo show in which drag queens “help biological women embrace their inner divas” featured three butch lesbians as contestants vying for a vacation for two, “luxurious jewelry” (presumably to give to their girlfriends) and $3,166.
Comic Julie Goldman (The Big Gay Sketch Show), actor Skyler Cooper (The Owls), and vlogger AJ Stacy (Tuna Talk) are properly fitted for bras, learn to walk in heels, crush on (or get crushed on by) their drag professors and do a group performance of “Bootylicious” (at the 37:29 mark in the video below) for the panel of judges, which includes Dot Jones from Glee.
So do the contestants really want to “earn being called a lady” and “shake it up and trying something new,” or are they just in it for the loot and screen time? It’s hard to tell. Either way, they go from looking like this:
Goldman entertains the class with hilarious one-liners (she says she looked like “a football player inside of a hockey player’s body in a dress” at her prom), Cooper seems to have a genuine epiphany, and AJ surprises everyone with her dramatic transformation.
