Vote now: Who is the cutest TV couple of 2011?

Callie and Arizona, Grey’s Anatomy

What a long, strange trip it has been for Callie and Arizona! From puppy love to chicken pox to shared showers to gunmen to car accidents to accidental babies to a primetime wedding. Grey‘s creator Shonda Rhimes always said she thought Calzona belonged together, and true to her word, our favorite couple of surgeons has settled into glorious familial bliss.

Brittany and Santana, Glee

Santana’s realization that she Likes Girls was one of the most moving portrayals of coming of age queer sexuality we’ve ever seen on TV. It was followed by the heart-wrenching realization that Brittany was more than a fling to her — but Brittany was committed to Artie. Finally, though, the glances and dances and emo locker hijinks resulted in Brittany and Santana realizing they belong together. (We don’t know about you, but we’ve still got Songbird on repeat.)

Mini and Franky, Skins

How refreshing it was to see a genderqueer character like Franky Fitzgerald on our TV in 2011. And how doubly refreshing it was to watch Franky’s most popular, most femme-presenting classmate, Mini, go from hating her to falling head over heels for her. Their best mate called it a “girl crush,” but Mini’s face and Mini’s actions told us it was so much more than that.

Jenny and Emma, Hand aufs Herz

Is there any word to describe Jemma other than “phenomenon”? In a few short months, Jenny and Emma gave as a richer, more authentic lesbian storyline than most American TV shows do over the course of years. They fought against each other, they fought with each other, and then they fell into each other. And oh, that pizza ballet!
