The “Saved by the Bell” cast reunites, but not for Jimmy Fallon

It turns out the Saved By The Bell cast wasn’t opposed to a reunion, they just didn’t want to have it on Jimmy Fallon‘s fledgling late night show. (Also, they didn’t want to see Screech or Mr. Belding — and really, who can blame them? I didn’t even want to see Screech or Mr. Belding back in 1989.) The Bayside Tigers are reunited in this week’s People magazine, and you guys, Lisa Turtle got hot!

The hookups! The meltdowns! What was really going on!

Well, apparently what was really going on was that they were all dating one another at some point, which is really shocking. I mean, that kind of thing never happens on the sets of teenage television shows. Seth Cohen and Summer Roberts never dated in the real life O.C.. Serena van der Woodsen and Dan Humphrey have not been hooking up since Gossip Girl‘s pilot.

Seriously, though, with the exception of Dustin Diamond, the whole cast seems to have nothing but warm memories of their time at Bayside High. Mario Lopez did a little behind-the-scenes filming for Extra at the People photoshoot, which you can watch at their site.

The best thing to come out of this Saved By The Bell reunion, though, is Tiffani Thiessen‘s new FunnyorDie.com video in which she explains why she just couldn’t make time for Jimmy Fallon.

I never realized I had so much in common with Kelly Kapowski!

The gay thing:

The Jamaican vacation thing:

The gay thing again:

The nonsensical math thing:

Seriously, again with the gay:

And, of course, the bemused IKEA furniture assembly thing:

And if that weren’t enough, I’m always at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by.

Raise your hand if you would pay good money — or at least spend a night in front of the TV — to watch a Saved By The Bell reunion movie. No? Well, at least it’s good to see the cast together again, right?
