- Cheryl Coward is a writer, multimedia artist and technology consultant. Her written work spans fiction, poetry, non-fiction essays, magazine articles and news reporting. She has been published in a wide variety of publications including the Advocate, Black Enterprise, the Village Voice, the Chicago Tribune and Essence and the Encyclopedia of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History in America. She is the author of the novella Sugarhill and is at work on a second novel and a collection of short stories. She is a graduate of Smith College and a Dartmouth College graduate school dropout. She is a native of Gainesville, Florida with maternal roots in the Gullah/Geechee stronghold of the Georgia Sea Islands. She lives in Austin and is online at cherylcoward.com.
