Bio

I am the crazy cat-lady that exists in every society. You know, the one who live by herself (as the 7 cats suddenly don´t count for some reason) in the delapidated little cottage in the dark scary winding woods, always muttering (or rather, cackling) to herself, staring evily at any human passing by while gesturing in a witchlike (is that even a word? Oh you get my point) manner, scaring the living daylights out of neighbouring children... *hellish cackle*

Lame  joke aside, yes I do have 7 cats and am a bit (erm... ok very much so) oversensitive to comments about this. You can care for people even if you love animals and are into animal-rights... And you don't have to be weird or freaky because of it either (although in my case I am so I prefer to call it my uniqueness ;-). Simply put, my family has always loved animals, and everyone has one in one form or another. My dad used to breed dogs and birds (although the latter was a mistake from putting opposite genders in the same cages =) and my mom always let us bring home stray cats. Actually, one of the sweetest memories I have of my mother (who died 9 years ago and are very, very much missed) is when she quietly went out in the rain to pick grass and dandelions for my little sister´s rabbit & guinea-pigs. She spoilt us terribly in this manner and I will always love her for that.

What else about me...

  • Passionate gemu otaku (well "passionate" sure does have a nicer ring to it than "overtly obsessive" which is implied in the term itself... =)
  • Film/TV/book-crazed also
  • Pepsi Max-addicted
  • In love with the eloquent English language, but sadly losing my grip on it as times goes by. Another reason for my being here, to keep that - and my heart (she said mysteriously) alive.
  • Total nightowl, struggling to actually see some of the brief summer here, but not getting up before noon or in bed before breakfast. Did that make sense? Well lucky for me I always did enjoy late fall and winter more. If there's snow. I swear if I don't get any snow this winter I'll... Nothing's like frosty cold and pitch black darkness. Makes the stars more visible. And of course the contrasting beauty of soft winter greyness and shimmering snow... the occasional shooting star and aurora borealis... *muses* Provided you have access to "inside" that is! A nice warm fire (well blankets, radiator and cats have to do in my case), a good trusty book/movie/comic or company, a long hot bath... (Not all at once though! My cats seriously dislike baths. Especially when I'm in it *ouch claws*! =) For being such a tiny country it sure encompasses all seasons and climates. Although rain and flooding seems to be more and more the general weather *grumble*
  • Did I mention I have a slight tendency to get carried away and ramble a lot ? =)
  • Right now on animal/house-watch for said little sister, which means I'm currently responsible for 7+25 lives here! *wow*. Wait, forgot about the cats, add 2 to that (thank goodness she brought the dogs with her!).
Favorite Books
Katharine Kerry´s Deverry-chronicles is an absolute must, as is Guy Gavriel Kay´s Tapestry of Fionavar and Tad William´s Memory, Sorrow and Thorn-series. The first half of Robert Jordan´s Wheel of Time-saga (never ever thought I´d be the one to say this, but there is such a thing as writing 2 much 4 2 long 2 unedited). Well pretty much anything in epic fantasy! Terry Pratchett for Wyrd Sisters, Ursula K LeGuin and Robert Zelazny for their unique take on sf/f. Also Clive Barker and Neil Gaiman. I read a lot of comics too, have been into X-Men since I was a teen (boy does time fly! Getting a bit tired of the increased Wolverine-focus the last years though. All the strong interesting women are IMHO overshadowed). Sandman is a definite fav, I mean, how can you *not* adore Death and Dream? And Nemi is my new idol.
Favorite Lesbian/Bi TV or Movie Characters
Xena - Gabby, Willow - Tara of course! Thelma from Hex (yeah I know, she was so stereotypically killed off, but still goes strong! Can´t shut this wonderful dyke upp, woot woot! =). Haruka- Michiru (no, they are certainly not cousins). I stretch the term and include t.a.t.u - no they´re not the real thing, but their gay stage-alter-egos are just soo cute together *turns into a pile of mush*
Favorite Musicians / Bands
Very much depends on my mood. Depeche Mode, Mylene Farmer, Loreena McKennitt, Nightwish, Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Madonna, Sam Fox, Anastacia, Era, Enigma, Annie Lennox, Cranberries, Skunk Anansie, K´s Choice, Sandra, the list is too long. I also tremendously enjoy the soundtrack to Xena (Bitter Suite, Sins of the Past), Buffy (Once More With Feeling), Queen of the Damned (that dark broody cd makes me shiver in a real good way ;-), Animatrix, The Crow (just melts to the Cures pain/love-song), Tomb Raider and so on. Not to mention a whole lot of gameST that are always forgotten or simply not credited enough: the tiny beautiful bits from Legacy of Kain - Blood Omen, Castlevania - Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy (Aeris´ theme! Or The One-winged Angel or...), well you get my point.
Favorite TV Shows
In case you didn´t get it by my worship above: XEEENA! BUFFFY! *lol* Charmed, Babylon 5, Hex, Star Trek (Voyager, of course. Why? Well in two words: Seven! Janeway! =), Cleopatra 2525 (anything sci-fi on, I watch. Especially when it involves Victoria Pratt =), Tru Calling, Medium, Ghost Whisperer (well it grows on you. And Melinda´s boyfriend is just unbelievably supportive, understanding and caring, which amuses me a lot. Is there hope for the man in Mankind yet? *grin* Anything occult on, I watch. If only for the ideas and/or thoughts the script stirs in me), L-Word, McLeod´s Daughters, Keeping up Appearances, Absolutely Fabulous, Cybill (laughter really is a life prolonger. Or perhaps not but it sure feels good =), Cold Case (mostly for Kathryn Morris. Oh I so miss Najara). I love my TV. Yup.
Favorite Movies
The Crow, Crying Freeman, Resident Evil (well it IS Milla after all! Not to mention Michelle Rodriguez =), God´s Army (Christopher Walken, Viggo Mortensen and Amanda Plummer with an intense, thought-provoking screenplay, that´s my thing. Fav. films of mine because of the equally intriguing philosophy are: Lost Souls, Stigmata, Bless the Child, Hellraiser, End of Days), Alien, Queen of the Damned, Kill Bill, Event Horizon - Visions of Hell, Silent Hill (beautiful, creepy, mystifying - what more can a girl ask for? Yeah, Rose and Cybil too of course *smiles sweetly*), Inner Senses, A tale of 2 sisters (truly heartbreaking), Spirited Away, Vampire Hunter D, High Heels... So many movies, so little time!
