- I did not become even a tenth of the person I thought I would be. I failed to achieve any of the ideals I believed in as a child. It turns out that I have grown up to become an apathetic person who willfully ignores the pain of everyone around her. I have become someone that has continuously disappointed the child in me. The person I was at ten would be (and probably is) ashamed of the person I have become at 38. I have ignored the possibilities that this life has offered me, instead, I have chosen to become as mediocre as feasible. As an alternative to living life I chose to lose myself in books, TV shows, music and my computer. Which, any third rate shrink would point out, are all things that can help me to isolate myself from the real world.
