World traveller,  active and outgoing, (barely retired) student.  Finally finished up my PhD in Development Studies; would call myself a political anthropologist.  Have competed at a reasonable level in both rowing and amateur boxing, and love physical activity of most any sort. ... And oh, moving to New York in the autumn!

Technically am American (Californian) but grew up in Asia (Indonesia) and am very multi-cultural.  Love the variety of different countries and colours and cultures -- and flavours (mmmm, spice).  Am open-minded and love to challenge conventional understandings.  I tend to get to the heart of the matter with people, and try to find out what makes them tick. 

Of the many many things I like ... espresso with cream, celebrity gossip, tiger lilies and riotous sunsets. The Balinese beach, white sand, cloves, palms, and Indonesia's haunting. People, most always; feminism, poetry, the arts. Eye contact, fearlessness, social justice and women's rights, and anger, when motivating. Truth-seeking, deep-conversing. Spicy noodles, potatoes in most forms, cheddar cheese, dark cherries, and pomellos. Gadgets, preferably multi-functioning. The way music circumvents my mind and thrills me through, musicals especially, and Wicked most of all.  Dreaming, doodling, pondering the imponderables and finding myself tangled, but preferring the tangle to straight lines and neat boxes. Boxing's vicious grace; the reckless joy of dancing with lethal intent. Tattoos that mean something, antique daggers, and the wild improvisation of spring's full bloom.
