A Gay Girl’s Guide to Fall TV: September

Now that it’s September, it’s officially time for fall shows to start showing up on our screens. We’re actually really lucky this season, because there are several female-centric series, and some of them are worth watching. Based on the pilots I’ve seen, here are the shows I recommend watching because they’re awesome, considering because they could improve or just skipping completely.

Definitely Watch…

Ringer (The CW, Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 9/8c )

Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a pair of twins in a film noir-esque thriller.

Prime Suspect (NBC, Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10/9c)

Maria Bello stars in the remake of a British drama series in a role originated by Helen Mirren. She’s a bad ass detective in New York, proving her worth to her male counterparts.

The Playboy Club (NBC, Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10/9c)

The historic ’60s provides an exciting backdrop for a show that follows the lives and loves of several women who each have secrets of their own. They also happen to be wearing bunny suits.

Up All Night (NBC, Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10/9c)

Christina Applegate‘s pairing with Maya Rudolph as her subordinate/friend makes this new comedy about parenthood worth tuning in.

The Secret Circle (The CW, Thursday, Sept. 15 at 9/8c)

Britt Robertson is a witch, but she doesn’t know it until she meets the rest of her coven — as well as a prospective boyfriend (Thomas Dekker) and his evil father (Gale Harold) who had something to do with the murder of her mother.
