“Glee” tour will be coming at you in 3D on film

Gleebians, sit down and breathe deeply. This summer you are going to be able to see Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Dianna Agron, Lea Michele and the rest of the cast on the big screen — in 3D. It’ll be like the Brittana and Achele are coming right at you.

Yes, a concert film of this summer’s Glee concert tour is coming to a theater near you in August. Glee Live! 3D! will be based on the upcoming Glee Live! In Concert! (their exclamation points, not mine) North American tour. Kevin Tancharoen, the man behind the 2009 Fame remake, will direct the 3D spectacular-spectacular.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy said in a statement that the film was a way to let me fans experience the tour:

We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity. Now… we’ll be able to bring the concert experience to movie theaters across the country in full three-dimensional glory. We promise every passionate “Gleek” a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles.

The Glee Live! In Concert! Tour will kick off May 21 and wrap up June 18 before heading to the United Kingdom until July. The tour (and movie) will feature Lea, Dianna, Heather, Naya, Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Harry Shum, Jr., Chord Overstreet, Ashley Fink, Darren Criss and members of The Warblers.

The film run for two weeks in a theaters starting August 12. I’m now trying to figure out ways to attend as an adult that don’t make me seem like some screaming tween’s parent. So excited to see Glee on the big screen? A little scared that Rachel Berry will be singing at you in 3D?
