“Rizzoli & Isles” gives us a sneak peek at season 2

The return of our favorite subtext-loving police detective/medical examiner crime procedural is still more than a month away. But that won’t stop us from getting excited about the second season of Rizzoli & Isles. Though a slew of new promos released by TNT isn’t helping make the wait any less excruciating. Look at Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, already with the eye sex.

Our fearless duo is back and looking better than ever (guess a bullet through the gut is great for one’s complexion). The cast and crew have been back on set since March, shooting the new season which is set to premiere July 11 on TNT.

Series creator and executive producer Janet Tamaro recorded a short preview about the season, and attempts to lay fans minds at ease about the new characters. Also, there’s a recap of the cliffhanger ending of season 1. If you haven’t watched, or are squeamish about self-inflicted gunshot wounds, be forewarned.

The best thing about that video was Janet calling Jane and Maura’s new romantic interests “hookups” because they’re not ready for a fiancé or long-term relationship. That’s right, because we already know they’re each other’s One True Pairing. Ahem.

The cast and crew have been busy tweeting up a storm on set as well. So far, none of Sasha and Angie together (come on, you’re killing us here ladies). But it does appear that the new season will be interesting. There appears to be an episode featuring sailors.

Also an episode featuring Jane and Maura in mud baths. Man, I can’t wait to recap the subtext on that one.

Angie has also given us a glimpse into her on set habits. She apparently likes to sleep in extra’s cars and stretch on other cars, though not at the same time.

Sasha, for her part, is reconnecting with her tortoise friend (not a turtle, Jane), Bass.

And then, finally, a crew member tweeted out our first look at the ladies at work. Why is it not July yet, why?

So, even more excited for the return of Rizzoli & Isles? Mind put to ease about the new characters and “hook-ups,” or does none of that matter as long as we have eye sex. Discuss.
