This summer, the Independent Film Channel announced that it would be producing a sketch comedy show starring Saturday Night Live‘s Fred Armisen and our own rock goddess Carrie Brownstein, called Portlandia. Now we know the show will premiere January 21 and continue to air every Friday in 2011 at 10:30.
Portlandia introduces us to absurd PDXers, like myself. Each episode’s character-based shorts draw viewers into “Portlandia,” the creators’ dreamy campy rendering of the town we know and love.
“I love Portlandia. It really represents so much of what I love culturally, musically and in so many other ways,” Fred Armisen said in the press release. “This started as just a fun summer activity for Carrie and me. We’d be hanging out in Portland and shooting whatever made us laugh, and that evolved into Portlandia.” An official description:
An assortment of guest stars are already lined up, including Aubrey Plaza, Selma Blair, Heather Graham and Aimee Mann. And now IFC has given us some clips to get acquainted with some of the characters.
So check out Carrie’s theme song for the show and ready yourself to enter Portlandia in 2011.
