So much for the subtext. Looks like we’ll get a little wish fulfillment after all on Rizzoli & Isles. In an upcoming episode, Angie Harmon’s character will in fact go gay, if only for a little bit.
Aug. 9 Aug. 16 episode, titled “I Kissed a Girl” (original, I know), will feature Angie’s character, Boston Police detective Jane Rizzoli, going undercover as a lesbian. Sadly, Sasha Alexander’s medical examiner Maura Isles will not be playing her girlfriend. The episode synopsis:
Jane and Maura investigate what appears to be a hate crime, the brutal assault and murder of a woman leaving a lesbian bar. With Jane going undercover, they hope to lure the killer out in the open. Off the job, Maura hooks Jane up with a handsome yoga instructor.
Now, the whole Maura hooks up with a yoga instructor (played by Antonio Sabato Jr.) thing is certainly a buzz kill, but also appearing as guest stars in the episode are out actress Deborah Stewart and Desperate Housewives alum Brenda Strong. I hope the latter shows up in only a bra, à la her stint on Seinfeld.
What we do know is that Rizzoli shows up in sports bra with Isles at yoga class. Gotta keep your eye on the competition, right girl?
And she also shows up at what appears to be a lesbian bar. You can tell she is playing gay because her skinny jeans are also cargo pants. Oh, and then there’s the lesbian who is hitting on her.
The very special lesbian episode of Rizzoli & Isles airs
Aug. 9 Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. on TNT. And unless they want me screaming false advertising, I’d better see some kissing of girls.
UPDATE: The Very Special Lesbian Episode of Rizzoli & Isles was pushed back a week to Aug. 16.
