21st Annual GLAAD Media Award Nominees Announced Including One for AfterElton.com

Every year GLAAD gives out awards for outstanding GLBT media representation. This year there are 152 nominees competing in 32 media categories – everything from Outstanding Drama Series to Outstanding Comic Book.

Among the nominees this year: Grey’s Anatomy, Skins, Glee and the Ellen and Portia episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in the television categories, Precious and Casi Divas in the film categories, and Brandi Carlile, Gossip and Lady Gaga in the music category.

We’re especially pleased that Brent Hartinger, from our brother site AfterElton.com scored a nod for Outstanding Digital Journalism for his article Why Can’t You Just Butch Up? Gay Men, Effeminacy, and Our War With Ourselves. Way to go, Brent! (We’re rooting for him despite the fact that he’s up against out journalist Ariel Levy, for her article about Caster Semenya in The New Yorker.)

Winners will be announced at the GLAAD Media Awards on March 13th. The full list of nominees appears after the break.
