NBC has renewed The Office for a full season. The press release is weirdly drab and sincere — maybe that’s not weird for press releases in general, but it seems strange to refer to Jim as a “likable sales rep” and Pam as a “friendly receptionist.”
Apparently The Office is the “most upscale comedy” on TV; it pulls in the most viewers living in homes with $100,000-plus incomes. I can hear Michael Scott now: “We’re upscale, but we’re also downscale. That’s what we do here: balance. Like scales. That are balanced.”
