Christmas may be over, but Zooey Deschanel makes anytime the right time to watch Elf. And until Weeds resumes, it’s a good way to get your fix of her.
Zooey may be slightly more fetching with raven locks, but she and those blue orbs still bewitch the screen in Elf. Who can resist the way her nose and brow scrunch up when she laughs at Will Farrell’s antics, or how her sauciness turns sweet when she tells him “You missed” after he plants one on her cheek on their first date? As usual, the movement of her lips doesn’t necessarily correspond to what she’s saying, but that always just lends her a Pippi Longstocking-ish charm.
And that voice! The enchanting surliness when she speaks turns to liquid velvet when she sings. No wonder she landed the title role in the upcoming Janis Joplin biopic. As in Elf, she’ll do her own singing in the film. Shooting begins next month in Ã¢â‚¬” lucky for me Ã¢â‚¬” Philly. I might have to mosey on over to the set …
