The New York Times has a new and long overdue article called “Drink Up. It’s Not Like You Have Lines to Learn.” on the use of alcohol to manipulate contestants on reality TV shows like Joe Millionaire, The Bachelor, Flavor of Love 2, The Real World and Big Brother. While the article touches on the role intoxication plays in inducing fights, shocking confessions, and acting out in general, it makes no mention of one its most popular reality TV uses: getting girls to make out, often in hot tubs. Remember Sarah and Kim’s make-out session in the limo on America’s Next Top Model? And…I know there are more examples, but I’m too drunk right now to remember them.
