The next morning, Emily wakes up to a panicky call from Ali. She tells Emily she needs her before the phone is wrestled away. Emily hears Ali’s screams and rushes over to Wellby to save her, only to find that friends are no longer allowed to visit Ali. When Emily confronts Rollins, he tells her that it’s not in Ali’s best interest to have visitors. As he walks away, Emily sees a repairman fix a phone, which looks like it’s been ripped off the wall.
Emily tells Spencer that they need to rescue Ali, and proposes that they use Mary Drake to get them inside. Spencer refuses, what with the whole “Mary Drake is an evil twin” thing, but Emily urges her to bond with Mary by working the whole Radley connection. Emily, it’s an asylum, not a sorority! They’re definitely two different things…right?
Meanwhile, Aria dumps Liam and no one really cares. Except for Liam, that is, who had flown down to tell her that he is now the editor their book. Whelp, that’s awkward. Aria tries to the whole “it’s not you, it’s me” thing, but later on, Liam sees her holding hands with Ezra and the pieces fall into place. Geez, Ezria, you could have tried to be discreet: did you have to sit on the only bench in the only square in Rosewood?
Hanna looks over Lucas’s contract and FLASHES BACK to the New York bar where she met Jordan. She’s rolling calls at the bar while he gets her napkin wet with his drink. It’s supposed to be a meet cute, but it’s more like a meet blah. I mean, she’s impressed this dude can read a wet napkin? Caleb hacked into the police department! No one cares about Jordan is what I’m saying.
The Liars go to the DiLaurentis house to try talking to Elliot, but he’s being a condescending douche. Spencer calls him out on the ethics of being Ali’s husband and doctor, and he calls the Liars out for disappearing for five years. He also warns them that he won’t allow Mary Drake to visit, as it could be too destructive for Ali to see her mother’s face. He then ducks out to take a call, and the Liar receive a simultaneous text from A.D. saying that Ali is theirs, no take-backs. It finally dawns on these dummies that maybe Elliot isn’t such a nice guy.
