“Orphan Black” recap (4.09): Lost and Found

During Evie’s press conference, everyone in the audience gets a video of Bright Born doctors euthanizing a faceless baby, and of Evie explaining why she enforces this rule, and the press goes WILD, clamoring for Evie’s attention, calling to her for answers.

Rachel smirks smugly in the back of the room. And my heart grows a little for her. Even though it was definitely to advance her own self, she did help her sestras. Maybe she’ll be part of the Clone Club someday after all!

When Rachel gets home, she tries to channel her eye-visions again. She sees the camp again and the swan blood, and she looks at the leaves, and they look a little familiar. When she sits up, she tells Ira that she doesn’t think her eye is glitching. She thinks someone on the island is trying to show her something.

Cut to the island, where a woman is listening to French music next to a crackling fire, writing feverishly in a tank top with magical unicorn curls…someone puts a hand on her shoulder, and she turns around…

*harp sounds* *air punching* *happy dancing* *swooning*

DELPHIIIIIIIINE!!!

She’s ALIIIIIIVE! And she has a robot eye of her own! (I think.) And she’s STILL helping the sestras, just like she promised she would, loving them all equally, even in this strange swan-murdering land! The corner of her mouth tugged up like a fraction of an inch and I SCREAMED.

You guys. YOU GUYS. I’m so HAPPY. I knew it in my heart and I hoped for it and I dreamed it and I KNEW IT but there was always that tiny flicker of doubt; what if I was wrong, what if I was holding my hopes up high just to have them come crashing down? Because I’ve been stabbed in the heart by all of my favorite shows in the past year! But it’s real and it’s true and my #1 favorite show didn’t kill any of its queers and everything is going to be okay. I knew in my heart of hearts that this show would do better. They care too much about the community, they care too much about their characters. More specifically, Tatiana cared too much and now that she has producer credit I knew she wouldn’t just let this happen.

The first half of 2016 was just awful in so many ways, but June 1st hopefully marked the beginning of a new age. May bisexual badasses Delphine Cormier and Waverly Earp and their sassy lesbian girlfriends Cosima Niehaus and Nicole Haught lead us to an age of happiness for lady-loving ladies on television.

What did you think of “The Mitigation of Competition”? How much did you squeal at that final reveal? How are you feeling? Tell me everything.
