Inside the throne room, Alie admits slight surprise at Clarke’s friends’ determination to survive, and decides to go for Plan B, which Clarke can already tell she won’t like.
Chipped Jasper stands outside the door listing every character who has ever died and how, but before he even gets to Season 2, Raven gets the computer up and running again, so she starts her trek back toward the killswitch.
Raven and Monty hear Harper then, and Monty tries to warn her about Jasper, but he knocks her out before she can run or fight. Jasper offers them a choice: Destroy the machine or Harper dies.
In the throne room, while some trikru guards wait for Bellamy and Murphy at the elevator entrance, others prepare a noose. Alie has Abby climb and fashion it around her neck, and Clarke looks so, so scared. She warns Alie that if she kills Abby, Clarke will never give her what she wants. But then Abby says Clarke would be the one killing her. Clarke begs Abby to get down, but still refuses to give up the passcode. Because this is bigger than her. This is bigger than a mother and her daughter. This is the fate of humanity.
That didn’t hit me at first; it wasn’t until I was picking up the pieces of my broken heart after the episode that I thought about it. It’s not just her people she’s saving anymore. It’s all people. The actual human race. What a load to bear for a skaigirl.
Alie doesn’t understand this, though, and is sure Clarke is about to break. She doesn’t know how strong Clarke is.
So she has Abby step off the bucket she was standing on, and she swings. As she watches her mother run out of air, slowly dying in front of her, she still doesn’t tell Alie the code. She just says, “I’m sorry,” for the second time today.
The skaikru ground team gets the elevator to the top and start climbing the ladder, but Indra sees Kane wake up and move from the spot she put him to keep him safe from the bomb they put in the tunnel. So Indra runs back to save him, in true warrior fashion, and they both get caught in the explosion.
When the elevator opens at the top of Polis Tower, it’s empty, which confuses trikru long enough to give Bellamy and Murphy the advantage from above the elevator car.
Alie starts to panic (well, as much as an AI can panic) and tells Jaha that they have to kill Ontari so that Clarke and her friends can’t use her, so Jaha bashes her in the head. Alie can sense that Ontari is injured but not quite dead, but Bellamy stops Jaha before he can bash her skull in again. When Murphy gets to Abby, she’s still breathing, so he cuts her down, and Clarke sends Bellamy to save Flame!Lexa.
