“Faking It” recap (3.9): Heartbreaker

on

You know, some recaps I really shouldn’t have to write when I’m PMSing. I mean, yesterday I made myself cry when I happened to think about Saving Private Ryan, AND THEN I watched this one in a coffee shop and started snuffling into my latte. Whatever else you say about it, I think anyone must acknowledge that this is Faking It’s saddest episode to date.

Of course, as Neil Young said it first and best: “Only love can break your heart.” So we start this week with Amy happier than we’ve ever seen her, and with the powerful force of her affection (finally, finally) being returned.

fi9.1BABY, YOU WERE SO RIGHT. SEASON 5 *IS* THE PEAK OF “THE L WORD.”

It’s been four days, which in queer high school time, is two days more than it takes to fall in LOVE, so the two of them have been cradled in a warm little nest of pillows and lube while Amy passes on the wisdom she acquired from her summer with the band. And they are just CLAWING at each other, desperate for each other’s touch, which is a first for any of Rita Volk’s kissing partners.

fi9.2WHEN I KISS YOU, IT’S LIKE I’M NOT JUST DESPERATELY WAITING WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING FOR SOMEONE TO YELL “CUT.”

But since this is all so new to Sabrina, they haven’t yet told Amy’s mom (which has its perks when it’s sleepover time) or Karma. Sabrina is a little terrified about the latter since she knows Karma will stop at nothing to assassinate her character, and you know, and I know that Sabrina has a rather large secret named Evan. But despite the double-dealing, there is nothing in her manner that doesn’t strike me as equally, foolishly, painfully sincere as I was when I fell for my first girl.
