“The 100” recap (3.13): Two if by Sea

In Polis, they throw a dirty Abby into the room where they’re keeping Kane. She pretends to be a fellow prisoner, desperate, asking about Clarke. But Kane thought Clarke was still in Polis, so he doesn’t know where she could be. Alie coaches Abby, pressuring her to get more information, to try harder.

Don’t worry, I hate body autonomy, this is great, really.”

Abby’s next move is to MAKE a move, and she starts kissing all up on Kane. But he knows her better than that, and he knows that if Abby thought Clarke was in danger, she wouldn’t be in the mood to canoodle in a makeshift cell while the trikru held them hostage.

When they realize the jig is up, Alie calls in guards and Abby tells them to put Kane on a cross.

At their signal fire, Bellamy and Clarke talk. First, he yells at her for coming to see if he’s okay, then he whines to her about not being forgiven for the horrible crimes he committed two days ago. Clarke says to give it time and someday maybe they can even forgive themselves, but in the meantime, they need to work as a team. Then she hugs him, and I punch a wall.

Floukru rise up out of the water then, tying the two of them up and demanding to know why they lit the signal fire. Then Octavia proudly uses the first thing Lincoln taught her to say in Trig, asking them for safe passage.

My breath hitched, I won’t lie. She’s come so far since then.

At Lincoln’s name, the floukru unbound their prisoners and give Octavia a tiny bottle of liquid they call safe passage. Octavia trusts that Lincoln wouldn’t have sent her into a dangerous situation, so she just takes it without question. Jasper follows suit because he has nothing to lose. Bellamy and Clarke realize it’s the only way they can all stay together, so they take it, too.

Flashback to Jaha giving Pike a pep talk; he has one more chance to teach the kids how to survive on the ground, despite never having survived on the ground himself. When it’s clear they’re still not getting it, he starts punching Murphy. Little Octavia shouts for him to stop, then eventually the other teens work together to stop Pike. When Kane comes in, Pike calls it Graduation Day. I hope he was just trying to get them to work together to fight to survive? Not that when someone is annoying you should punch them in the face? I don’t know; I think this whole thing was supposed to make us feel like Pike was a Good Guy, but it didn’t work for me.

Which is why when present-day Pike is getting cut to pieces by Indra, I don’t mind one bit. Murphy says they need each other if they’re going to escape, Indra and I disagree.

“The only person I need is my second.”

Indra is about to kill Pike, but another trikru prisoner stops her. Murphy says she has to choose between revenge and her people, but Indra tells him she will do whatever the hell she wants and that she’ll have her revenge, she’ll just wait until they’re free.
