She manages to get him to loosen his grip, so she starts to fight him, but he’s just bigger and stronger. He starts to choke her, but he still wants her to watch her friends die. As they start to lose consequences, Emerson asks her if she has any last words for her friends, and she does: “Ascende Superius.” She shoves Lexa’s chip into his neck, and it makes its way to the base of his brain, trying to connect to his synapses, but failing because of his regular old boring red blood. Clarke opens the airlock, and once she sees that all of her friends are breathing, she looks back to see Emerson, oozing blood from every orifice. The Commander of Death strikes again.
Newly oxygenated, the team starts packing up the rover, when Bellamy comes forward with a body wrapped in cloth. He sets it down in front of Octavia, and she knows it’s her Lincoln. She cries, loud and unapologetic in her mourning.
She kisses his forehead one last time, and the teens hold a small funeral pyre for Lincoln, Sinclair, and all those they’ve lost. Octavia doesn’t let them mourn for long; she says it’s time to go, and time to go it is. Clarke tucks Lexa back into her little tin bed; grateful her Commander is saving her, even in death.
The rover is ready to go, but not everyone is getting in. Raven is staying to deal with Alie 1, since she’s uploaded in the Ark’s mainframe, and Monty, Miller, Bryan, and Harper are staying, too. Raven hugs her friends goodbye, and off they go, the Delinquent Six down to four.
In Polis, Emori comes into the throne room to say that the gates of Polis are open. But it’s not Ontari sitting on Lexa’s throne anymore. It’s Alie.
