“The 100” recap (3.3): Fealty

While all THAT is going on (these scenes were all cut in a really interesting way that made everything seem 100x more intense but that I couldn’t possibly replicate with words), a man with creepy facepaint has been making preparations that look extremely ominous, and we haven’t known what his target was until now: It’s Mt. Weather.

Speaking of Mt. Weather, Raven is in the control room, feeling quite defeated by the task of launching the missiles, and throws in the towel, writing her friends off as doomed.

Sinclair says that the Raven he knows would never give up. And while we’re on the subject, she also wouldn’t let a chronic leg pain go ignored. He tells her that she doesn’t deserve the hell the writers have put her through and that she should just have Abby kiss her and make it better.

*sniffle* “That DOES sound nice…”

Raven is worried that she’s broken, but Sinclair tells her that love is love and that she should give herself a little credit.

In the president’s office, Gina is attacked by the creepy sacrifice guy. He opens the desk and punches in a code and activates a self-destruct mode. Gina sputters out a warning to Raven over the walkie, struggling to stay alive.

Sinclair and Raven try to run outside after the bad guy, but Raven can’t exactly run. Sinclair tussles with him for a bit and is almost murdered, but Raven shoots him just in time. They have the code to disable the bomb, but radioing to Gina is fruitless, her being super dead and all. Raven decides to hobble back in to stop the bomb herself, but she’s way too late, and would have been even if she was in Olympic runner condition, so Mt. Weather blows the hell up.

In Lexa’s tower, Team Blake realizes that they were wrong, that they’ve been played. They stand down, and Raven walkies Bellamy, telling him that Mt. Weather is gone and that she and Sinclair are the only ones left. She cries into the walkie, saying she’s sorry; she’s so sorry.

The grumpy Ice Nation man says that Ice Nation just did what Lexa was too weak to do. Lexa says this means war and arrests everyone in the room who is Ice Nation, including Roan. Arkadia could be the next target, so Abby and Marcus head off. They want Clarke to come with, but Lexa needs her. As…an ambassador! Sure, that’s it! Lexa promises she’ll protect Clarke, and Clarke promises she wants to stay.

“I mean, you can see Lexa from there, right?”

So the Arkadians say goodbye. Bellamy is the last to go, making sure she’s sure, but Clarke is super sure.

Lexa approves.

Later, after a war council meeting, Lexa and Clarke end up in the room alone. Clarke asks how the bomber knew about the access codes, and Lexa assures her they’ll find the answers, together. Lexa says that Clarke staying was the right thing, for “our people”. She promises not to betray Clarke again. To prove it, Lexa bows before her.

The Commander bows before no one…EXCEPT CLARKE.

She doesn’t look like her pride is hurt in doing this, she doesn’t look resentful. She looks apologetic, almost desperate. Her precious bb raccoon eyes are pleading. They’re saying, “Please. Please accept this as an apology, it’s the biggest gesture I could think of. I don’t know what else to do.”

Out loud she says that she swears fealty to her (doing her classic Lexa thing of saying “Clarke” more times than is socially necessary), saying their people are one now, that their needs are one. They are one. Clarke offers Lexa her hand, and she stands. They are equals. They are co-leaders. They are one.

Also, in that moment, after Lexa puts her hand in Clarke’s, Lexa looks at the place their hands touch. She looks at it as though she never thought they’d ever make physical contact again like she can’t believe her damn luck. She can’t take her eyes off their hands the whole time it takes her to stand up. It makes my heart do backflips.

Somewhere out in the wilderness, Echo goes back to the Ice Queen that the war has begun, and Clarke is at the Commander’s side, just as they planned. She says that Roan is still a prisoner, and the Ice Queen says that soon her son will be free, and Lexa will be dead.

What did you think of “Ye Who Enter Here”? Are you dead? I think I’m dead. Actually, I know you guys are dead because you all died all over the #LadyKru hashtag. Here are some of our favorite tweets from the episode:
